I still have weird movement in my right hand because in 2002 I was walking down 14th street in Oakland, California and came across a woman walking a golden retriever and a pit bull... I normally say 'hello' to dogs and the golden retriever presented as being super friendly and so I showed it the back of my hand to sniff, but then the pit bull jumped across and locked on to my hand, crushing it, and would not let go.

Just another piece of evidence when it comes to my mantra of 'avoid all people (and their pets) as much as possible'.

I love dogs very much, I have always loved them since I was a child and I believe that dogs if raised in a loving way could never act aggressively with people but it is also true that Pitbulls are the most unpredictable breed of dogs and also one of the most dangerous.
I am very sorry for what happened to you ... whenever I see a Pitbull while I am walking I usually put a bit of distance and i was used to say hello to every dog i would meet too
