I really would like to recreate this helmet

Now let's just say we use a wooden helmet shaped like a box for the sake of simplicity
We place the holes on all sides including facing down from the top, we can use as many as you like, once the holes are made we find some pieces of pipe that will fit the shell snugly, we place the pipes holding the shells into the box holes and secure them....now at this point I am lost on how to continue construction....
From a very vague understanding the arc welder is hooked up to metal clothes hangers and the hangers conected to nails....when the arc welder is turned on the nails instantly heat up and set of the shells....am I correct? How is the arc welder connected to the cloth hangers?
