I apply for jobs but never get a response.
Getting rejected for retail is the worst because we are always told it is easy to get a job in retail
For me the job descrpition puts me off applying . When i read the job descrpition i feel like i am incompetent and not good enough to do the job
It is definitely not "easy" to get a job in retail. I work at a restaurant, and we get around 30 applications a day. How many get sent to an interview? Two. The job market is incredibly competitive these days, especially with the rise of technology and this virus. It's absolutely not easy.

Getting rejected doesn't mean you're not good enough, entry level jobs are just so competitive.

Keep on applying. I know it's tough getting rejected, I know for sure. Many people apply for hundreds of jobs before even getting an interview. You're not in anyway incompetent just because you get rejected.

As I said, volunteer. Get that valuable experience. If you want some tips feel free to ask me (or others here) or message me.

I totally understand how you feel. I'll be 35 next month and never been able to work due to chronic illness. I went to college when I was younger working on a double major in religion and philosophy. I had planned on becoming a professor, but I finally got so sick I had to drop out before I finished my degree. You are still so young and if you want to work or follow a particular passion you have go for it. Don't ever let anyone make you feel ashamed about being on welfare. We all have different life circumstances and things that happen and need help along the way and that's perfectly ok. I used to beat myself up over it and compare myself to my friends (they went on to have successful careers, one went into, I kid you not rocket science, and had a job offer from NASA, one became a lawyer, one a forensic anthropologist, one a psychologist). I thought next to them I was such a failure. But I realized that I tried my best and that's what matters. It doesn't make my worth as a human being any less and I have nothing to be ashamed of. My life circumstances were beyond my control. You are a worthy human being, my dear <3 You have so many years ahead of you to have a job should you so choose.

Interesting. What do you think about Islam and christianity ?
Personally, I despised Christianity for years...until I became a Christian. I was actually a polytheist for about a decade then agnostic. I started looking into some of the evidence for Christianity and became convinced that it is true. I was especially persuaded by the transcendental argument for God's existence. I did study Islam and found certain truth claims to be contradictory in my opinion. That's just my personal perspective on things. I'm all for religious freedom and everyone's right to believe how they choose and also for people who are atheists to have freedom from any kind of beliefs being forced on them. I know talks about religion can be a touchy subject for people so it's only something I would talk about if someone directly asks my opinion. I'm open minded and enjoy hearing different perspectives from people of all faiths(or no faith at all).

Btw, forgot to mention, if you're looking for an interesting religion to study, I found Sikhism to be one of the most fascinating. Their chants are very beautiful, too. They believe there is a divine sound current that runs through the universe called the Naad.

I hope you're able to find one if that's what you're looking for.
I spent so long applying to jobs before one finally accepted me as an apprentice, one thing I learnt is to definitely tailor your CV/Cover letter to the job your applying for even if you have little to no experience.
Doing some volunteering may help your future efforts, charity shops are often looking for people and that could be a way into retail or other jobs.

There's nothing to stress about being jobless or on benefits, not everyone is able to land a job on their first try and once this lockdown ends jobs may be harder to find with the amount of people getting laid off, there'll be a surge in the market. I have a strong feeling I'm going to need to get searching soon or get on universal credit myself.

Most likely i am going to end my life after the lockdown.
I give up applying altogether

@FireFox I'm from Brazil, and it's very difficult here. But I believe it doesn't matter where you come from. The world will always consider you a machine.

I'm 23 just started a new career and my life is worse and more depressing then ever. I had a better time in college even if it was more stressful. A job doesn't give you a sense of purpose. That has to come from within.
My job just reminds me I'm a small cog in this fucked up capitalist society. I could die tomorrow and be replaced given a couple months.
What type of society would you prefer?

Had to illegally start working from 13 cuz of weird family situation. Too young to know it was even wrong. Now all dat inappropriate conditioning screwed me up a little too much, the social interaction wid other human beings and prlonged exposure is hurting me keeping a job. People keep telling u a job is gonna fix ur state, depression and wut not, but dats kinda wut shoved me into a corner to begin wid. Jobs and careers aren't all dat it's cut out to be. If u have a successful career, now u and others shame u for not having a successful family and vice versa. U never win.

I'm 23 now, and I've never had a paying job too. I try to get one, but I get rejected.
