Consciousness requires a lot of processing power and the human brain provides that. Without a brain, there can be no consciousness. What's interesting to me is that ppl go on about life after death (I've wondered about it too), but very few mention life before birth. As far as we know there were 13.9 billion years of nothing before we got here, and so the idea of more of that after doesn't trouble me. I won't know about it.
I know parapsychology is investigating the idea of transferred experience/NDE, etc—see, they first have to prove that mind and brain can/are separate, or she don't work. I'm not saying there aren't curious phenomena out there, I just want proof.
This idea of life after death is just an artifact of Mind which can't conceive of it's own non-existence.
