How the hell do you meet similar people

I want nothing more than to have someone irl to speak to about the topics common in this forum. How do I even bring up the topic to someone to find out if perhaps they're also open to the discussions surrounding suicide.
(I don't mean someone to vent to, I mean somebody to discuss methods, stories, etc, with.)

Funny you say this as I actually did meet someone in the ward who i absolutely adored. unfortunately any trading of numbers or social media was strictly forbidden

This is a tough one. There are definitely people out there to discuss it with but how the hell would you ever meet them? 99% chance you wouldn't. I made the mistake of opening up about his topic and methods etc to someone in real life who I thought would be okay with it but they weren't. It backfired and was a big mistake. I won't try it again. This is the only place. Hopefully you can make a close friend here to talk about things with.

I'll definitely try to not get sectioned lol. And we were under some hawk type supervision, they didnt even let us write normal notes to each other in case of "pre discussed secret messaging"

I've never been to one, but I've read on here quite a few times that some places allow patients to keep their devices. That's really why I was wondering why you and the person you met couldn't just exchange information that way. I guess I shouldn't have assumed it was like that where you were. My apologies.

lol don't worry at all. i was in a crack down facility where we were all high risk for dangerous behavior so they had some extra strict rules

I think all I can say is be really careful if you ever try and meet anyone on here irl. You really don't know who anyone is.
