Im vegetating rn in psych ward located 300 km from my home city. I feel suicidal asf knowing that my loved ones are so indifferent and wont see me here for several days. They just phone me once at day and thats it. There is an old lady in my room, whom it's hard for her to walk and move, she speaks silently and vegetates here with me, connected to drip. Whats the point of such misery life? Pro lifers are so cruel, letting me to feel as a some prisoner, with their bars on window. Fck you all.

Christ, you're a long way from home! Why did they take you so far from home?? They just put you there so you can't try to kill yourself for what it's worth

I don't see how a psych ward would be helpful. Locking suicidal people away isn't going to take away any suffering, instead it will just make people suffer more. Psych wards really sound like awful places. I hate this society that wants to force people to live against their wishes until they die from old age. It really is so cruel.

Psych wards are absusive and worthless. Each and everyone of my experiences intensified my wanting to make my exit upon release. It all comes down to numbers and government funding. Same as courthouses, county jails and prisons. If they're not pushing numbers then the higher up's are not lining their pockets.

You're very fortunate to have internet. We were like county jail; no phones, no technology of any sort, they controlled the one television and only in your room to sleep, change or shower. Nap times were controlled and suicide checks at least every 10 minutes. Fuck, I hate those places.
My wife and mom know not to call on me if they suspect I'm going to try to CTB because I'm so adamant I'm not going back, it would be bad for me and the officer(s) involved. Not even court order. Fuck that!

I have undiagnosed chronic pain condition which I wanted to diagnose. So my psychiatrist and parents found an Institute for Psychiatry and Neurology, hoping that they'll examine me on Neurology department. What they did is putting me on psych ward instead of neurology because I've had history of suicide attempts and im a threat to oneself, kek.

IMO: It is not supposed to be helpful to *you*, the patient. It's done for the sake of the society/family, because whenever someone dies or has a mental breakdown, this is disruptive and annoying to the people around them. In the psych ward, self-harm or disruptive behavior is prevented by physical or pharmacological means.

Our ward was overflow for drug rehab. My first stay was close to New Year's so we had a bunch of binging junkies trying to work out their resolutions on top of the court ordered. Moving beds into overflowing rooms with suicidals and strung out sociopaths. 😂
Was funny because the druggies thought themselves better than us. If people were bothering you with motormouth, all you had to do was tell them you were in for an attempt and instant quiet.
Ahhh, fond memories.

That has so much sense. Thanks for explanation.

I have been sent to psycho ward 4 years ago rafter I took od. They sent me to a posh hospital in a nice town. I have my own en-suite room. I am kind of easy patient, so they did not ask me join in any group or something like that.

But still there are very unfriendly nurses. And other patients can be quite horrible too.

But in a long run, I don't think it help me at all. I never try to CTB in hospital because I knew it's not going to work and they probably will extend my stay.

And I saw people trying to ran away etc. Then they will have 1:1 support that will be a support worker stay with you all day apart of uae bathroom and sleep. Would take phone away as well. But other patients told me it's still better than PQ which is a higher level mental health hospital. There will be no freedom there and basically like a jail. However in that time I had a very abusive husband. I guess I would prefer to stay in a jail than go back to home.

Speak about that, in that time. The support worker told me that I can get help from domestic violence refugees. I ring them, the lady in charge of that never return my call until I have been discharged. So I have to stay in hotel otherwise I probably will be end up in Street.

I guess ward can be helpful for certain illness like schizophrenia. But I see the point why they send me there. My illness can not be treat by medication. It is complete pointless for me to see a psychiatrist or stay in a ward. And they will not discharged me from psychiatrist.

i think they're worth it if you're a rich bastard and can afford one of the super luxurious ones, otherwise you're totally fucked. i have extreme trauma from my time in psych wards (and i've been to many.) they're also training grounds for new doctors and nurses, i have needle trauma for being abused in a long term "care" facility.

my biggest fear of failing to ctb is ending up in one of those again.

I was in one, voluntarily, for a week (I'm in the U.S.) Their purpose here is to get you stabilized on medication until you no longer are a danger to yourself or anyone else. The place I was in was very no-frills but I didn't find it to be a bad experience at all. At the time I was experiencing a complete mental breakdown and it felt like a little vacation from real life. I met some nice people in there and am still in touch with 2 of them. The staff were mostly decent, some were really kind. When they discharge you they will refer you to a psychiatrist, therapist, and/or a longer term outpatient program depending on your needs.
