My potential date is coming up quickly, and while I have no desire to really sort out my finances for anyone (they can fight and be confused about it, I don't care) I really want to make sure my pets and perhaps a few times go where I desire. Would a will be necessary for this? I am afraid of making one as it may raise alarms, I am only 24– I may just be being paranoid.

The safest way us scheduling to take them (to where you want then to be it could be a non kill rescue etc) one day before doing the thing. Telling them one is moving and new apartment doesn't accept them. If family or anyone asks why you took them, say you took them for a surgery or for neutering or vaccines and they have to stay overnight with the vet.

It really depends on where you live as to the legalities, but in some places a DIY will is valid. You can purchase the forms or a guide online. Again you will need to check and see if this is an option for where you live. As for your pets, I also think surrendering them to a no kill shelter is your best option. Good luck on your journey.

I think it would be best to take the animals to a reliable rehoming centre, you can make a donation at the same time to help with the costs.
I've seen friends of a deceased person trying to give away their companion animals on social media and would be great if that could be avoided.

Also, you might want to sign and date a living will - just in case. And look into what type of funeral you'd prefer (I nearly completely forgot to consider this) - this also might need to be written down, depending on what type of documents are considered valid in your location.
I wish they made this easier.
