It was so fuckin awful I decided the outside world wasn't so bad after all

I'm not sure that is how it's supposed to help you

I've spent 3 years of my life in psychiatric hospitals - most were involuntarily and some were long stretches because the doctor had a court order to keep me. It never helped and made me feel like a trapped animal in a cage.

Just once but once was more than enough, I was sexually assaulted in there by another patient and when I told staff they just shut me away and done fuck all about it. Ended up coming out of there worse than when I went in

Approximately 15 times, it's a bit difficult to remember after the last inpatient round of ECT. I don't want to go back.

Mental health treatment shouldn't be modeled in a punitive way.

A ton. Never helped. I hate psych wards yet lost my mind and put myself in them.
I should've known better. Last time I went I literally sat in my room and did nothing. I'll have to pay thousands for that.

Only ever on the other side, as a work placement. Harrowing place it was. My father was in there for a spell as a patient about 20 years prior. I'm sure they've changed a lot since either of us was inside one, but it wasn't a pretty sight for me circa 2007 so it must have been Hell for my Dad in the 80s. Wasn't quite One flew over the Cuckoo's nest, but there were similarities for sure.

It was a council funded one though, for the general waifs and strays, from what I was informed the private ones were a whole other story. Never got to see one, I had my placement moved to a social services centre eventually.

Once at age 17, for 3 months. Maybe I'll go there again soon, or I will probably ctb. Don't know yet.
Although the teen psych ward was pretty horrible, the normal adult psych ward seems to be aight.

4, once on section. Though between 3rd and 4th I was only out for a week. 1st and 2nd times were around 12 years ago. Honestly thought I'd never have to go in again but was sadly wrong. Have become more screwed up over time not less :( Meds and containment don't help me at all and the (private) therapy I've done hasn't either.
