There is sadly a bunch of them-threads like 'this is my last post, I just took SN' hapoen all the time. I myself tried to talk a girl out of jumping in front of a train and contacted the police via an anonymous charity (NOT mentioning this site and maintaining its privacy) that I knew what had happened to a girl who ctbed in England somewhere and her family couldn't find her corpse for days.
That was a kind thing to do but potentially risky. Whenever someone carries out self deliverance, the families and particular the system is always looking for blood i.e. blame somebody for the suicide.

I assume you are based in the UK? Man respectfully, that country has really gone Orwellian, looking for any excuse to throw anybody in jail.

You do not have to share his name (probably better that you do not) but how were you able to confirm this? Did you two share actual identities?

He was on the 48hr regime. We used to talk most days and now not since the beginning of July. I'm as certain as I can be he ctb. No reason for him not to contact me even if it didn't work.

I think many of us are taking a good longish look at our lives in the company of folks who are also taking the long view into tomorrow, be it death or living.
There are members who have been able to work through their demons and decided to carry on, which is also welcome here.

It has been said that SS saves many lives because members here can speak more freely about their issues and pain without being thrown into confinement or some horrible medication pumped into them.

This question pops back up every couple of weeks, I see it as baiting/trolling.
"Come on, you're all talk, aren't you? You're not really gonna do it!"
Wtf do you care what a bunch of strangers on the internet do? Manage your own shit.

I see people on here saying they're going to CTB in an hour. But then a whole week later they're still posting on here.
Some people are unable to follow through, at least not at that moment.
It takes a LOT of courage to overcome your survival instincts.
You have to be in a certain frame of mind to act.
I never fault anyone who is unable to follow through.
I always thought CTB meant cease to breathe.
There are several interpretations of "ctb", but catch the bus is probably the most common, at least on this forum.

I always wonder how many of the people who say they're committing suicide and never return to this forum have actually committed suicide, and how many of them stop posting on SS (or come back with another username) in order to create the impression they've killed themselves.

IRL people that ctb rarely announce it.They also rarely leave notes so I'd like to think a large percentage of announcers don't go through with it.Thats ok though for whatever reason.

Well he never openly announced it. Told me a lot about his life and reasons etc. He certainly had nothing to gain telling me he was going to ctb and then not doing it.
