definitely one of my bigger reasons. all that existential dread when it comes to thinking about how i'm one missed paycheck from homelessness and having no familial/etc safety net if that does happen.

That's maybe half of why I want to do it. And I alleviate some of the other burdens if I had money to spend on them, too...

I'm really sorry you're also dealing with that. Maybe it's true that it's "the root of all evil" like people say

Debt adds to necessity of CTB but it's an item on the list of things. Not the reason

Me for sure. Money wouldn't solve every single problem I have- at this point I'm so sick in the head that nothing at all could convince me to stay alive. I've crossed a threshold never before touched in any of my past attempts. But in the past... what, 20 years? Money could've solved everything and I do mean everything. If I'd been born into a wealthier family or even a family that got wealthy at some point, I wouldn't have even been abused the way I have- financial struggle is what made my mother into the beast she became. All the debt I have right now could be paid off in the blink of an eye with a well paying job that gave me 5 thousand a month rather than my measly minimum wage job. If I had money, I could move to a nice walkable city and never have to worry about feeling like a burden to anyone ever again. Money would get rid of 95% of my problems and would've absolutely prevented me from commiting suicide for at least 20 years of my life. My continued financial struggle has more than aided in making me resolute in my decision to CTB. It's inevitable now as I refuse to keep suffering long-term like this.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm 100% here due to money issues. I don't necessarily want to die but I see no other way out. I don't want to be homeless or a burden to anyone. Not a question of if anymore, just when.

In a manner of speaking. I have behavioural control issues and I've already wasted more money than I ever have a hope to earn in the rest of my life and I would've preferred to retire so that's not great, but it's not the money exactly, it's the utter hopelessness of such a lack of control when I knew better and yet fucked myself over anyway. Again. Lol. Sure, money is an issue but if you give me infinite money I will die of one addiction or another, give myself five years max. So money is not the real driver but it's a piece of the puzzle. It would not solve my problems.

my god lol I just realised if I had rent paid and power and could order food and alcohol without restriction I wouldn't live through the next year lol. I'd die buried beneath whiskey bottles and takeout boxes. I can't tell the future but there's a high chance I'd end up shitting in a bucket in that room with severe diogenes syndrome and THEN die lol

gonna go get a lottery ticket

If UBI was a thing, I think there would be a decent number of people who no longer feel like CTB is their only option.

It's the major issue for now, yes. I'm not quick enough or business headed enough to really make ends meet doing my creative job. So, that means I have to work much harder to compensate and, nothing is all that fun when you feel like you have to do it all the time. The alternative is wage slavery that I know I hate more after a decade's experience in it.

So yeah- for now, it's the main reason. Or, to put it another way, a lottery win would likely make me continue longer. Longer term though, money can't buy good health. I'm not willing to put up with pain, old age and illness so, I feel like suicide is on the cards at some point regardless.

If I had money, then I would have CTB.
I want to earn more money. I need a real part time job. That's enough. I need to save 3000 USD. I have only small expenses, because I live with my parents. So I need to earn 900 usd a month and I save 500 usd. In about a half hour, I would have saved that amount. I would go to a trip and then get my "eternal peace elixir"

I had some money issues. That's what lead to my latest attempt (2022). I have somewhat recovered financially since. I sympathize deeply with those going through tough finances. I know how hellish that feels

Definitely mostly. It would buy me some more time now, though I always knew ctb would be how i went out. Like many on here I don't come from any wealth. I head 'brains' enough, but I never cared for getting ahead or the pursuit of money for moneys sake. throughout life I was never able to really picture a future life for myself, so I never planned or saved. i have a heart condition that will only worsen with age. i don't want a stroke to take my agency away.

Almost...

Money itself is not the issue, but more that I cannot rent a house, because my total annual earnings do not meet the requirements for many rentable houses where I live, and I live in an area which is considered cheap. I have enough money saved to allow me to survive, but many landlords do not want a person like me, because I am not considered a "desirable" or high-earning person/potential tenant.

Not so much about money, but I have a lot of anxiety around it. I'm not sure if I'm employable to begin with. I don't wanna spend the rest of my life just working to live, from one crappy job to another, in debt, with nothing to look forward to. I'm priviledged enough to not worry a ton about money now, but I don't know what the future has for me. Getting a good job is hard and renting or buying a house is almost impossible on your own. College is no guarantee you'll be employed in your profession. I have very little hope. I'd rather die when I'm still able to.

It's more just a smaller piece of the puzzle, but it does stress me out a ton. My credit is probably shit because I haven't made a payment on my student loans in like 5 months, praying I don't default on it. The worst thing about it is I could have made at least some payments but I'm very financially irresponsible and it's entirely my fault
