I think it's hard when you're still on the fence to some degree, consciously or unconsciously. I also believe that the longer and more deeply one contemplates suicide, the more mental barriers and doubts are erected, which creates further difficulty in actually going through with the act.

That being said, every 40 seconds someone in the world kills him/herself, so I suppose in practice it cannot be that difficult if so many people do it every single day. I imagine the process of pondering the decision, carefully weighing up the pros and cons, and finally reaching a final conclusion to die is the hardest part. I know many of us get stuck at that stage and linger there in limbo for weeks, months, years, or even decades, myself included.

At least it's something that you can't regret after?!

I've tried once to do the stat dose, did everything but when it came to drinking it I couldn't get over that hurdle. Have to be sure next time, only have enough left for one more go and don't want to have to try ordering more, waiting for it to arrive, clear customs, etc is too anxiety inducing.

It is a very hard thing to overcome, I've not even been able to muster a serious attempt. I'm the kind of person who likes things to be easy so that's something I need to deal with and do what needs to be. As others have said SI can kick in too.

It's totally surreal. Sometimes through out the day I feel like I'm ready to go with it, but then I need to start fasting which takes 6-8 hours and during that time SI kicks in and I'm back to square one.
