I get paranoid about this every once in a while (not because of any bad experiences)

as for food I am not that worried because I can take it apart and look at it and smell it etc.

and because in my mind sometimes although this may not be true I think that if I reheat it or freeze it, it is then safe to eat (especially if I get a bad feeling although weren't any signs prior to either reheating or freezing or even just leaving it as leftovers)

but with drinks it's harder unless it's bottled so then if it has been tampered with you won't hear a pop or a snap depending on the kind of cap you have on your bottle or if you're using a can
or unless you picked it up yourself and never took it out of your sight

I was doing fine for a while as I mostly have had bottled drinks as of recent and also pour my own drinks and then stare at them if I sit them down for a couple of seconds to do something else

but today I ordered a drink to go with what I was eating and I wasn't there for the order and when it got to me someone I dislike for many reasons hovered over it too long and then I didn't want to drink it anymore

but I took one sip after I took off the lid (the typical look of a fast food beverage) and shook and sifted through the ice with my straw

but the worry was still there and it was so bad that I decided to rinse my mouth with mouthwash and just leave the drink on my desk

but the main reason why I am asking about this is because when this happens I feel guilty about wasting (I will just dump it out and I feel guilty when: I didn't pay for the item, I asked for the item, I dump the item, and when I was really looking forward to whatever item it was, or when I get a large serving and then I get the bad feeling and waste a lot) food/drink

there werent any signs with this drink but I still have the bad feeling
I will try not to dump it out and just wait and see if the feeling goes away or I will force myself to drink it

I'm as kind as possible to the waiting staff😂

No, but seriously, that's the easiest way to make sure your food or drink isn't tampered with. Whenever anyone I'm at the table with sends their food back to the kitchen. I'm like, Come on.Don't you know that's going to come back worse than the first time?Even if you can't see it.😅

That silliness side,

To your point, are you afraid your stuff is going to be spiked with something?

You're not wrong at all if that's the case. It's actually pretty common. I've seen Some crazy YouTube documentaries about this stuff.I think it's better to be safe than sorry. In the words of Yahoo founder Jerry Wang 'Only the paranoid survive'

I am not worried about the people making the food/waiting staff
just a person I am in close proximity with because I don't like them/think they are evil/don't like their presence in almost a superstitious way

spiked? no.

spat in or hair inserted? also bacteria in general?
yes. (this person doesn't wash their hands often/normally or even use hand sanitizer often to my knowledge/some observation)

(the suspicions became a thing/got worse when my mental state got worse but then when I got a bit better they are probably a permeant thing I cannot explain it)

Ah Ok.that makes sense.

Yeah, the waiting staff thing was mostly a joke😅

The documentary stuff was date r*** related.I thought that that was maybe your concern. Seems like it isn't.
There have been several instances of drinks at bars and restaurants getting spiked.

oh okay I thought that maybe it meant in general (I was imagining that it would be similar to that one old Vice doc about people who thought they had metal inside them and other devices and paranoia about that but with food and drink)

I don't drink/haven't tried alcohol yet but yeah it is a big issue (related to a unsolved crime (somewhat recently) where I am from actually)

I wonder why bars don't just keep a box or stack of those new drink covers that I keep seeing
it wouldn't completely stop that from happening but I think they would be good to have everywhere for free
