How do you personally handle when someone asks about your self harm cuts or scars?

Last time I had someone ask was last year when I was working at my old shitty job that made my depression far worse. I remember somebody asking me out of the blue "hey, where are those cuts from" and I immediately felt my face flush then I made up a lie very quickly about how there were sharp objects coming out of my bed and thankfully he believed me.

I am curious how you handle people asking about cuts or scars.

In the past I've just said the marks were just old scars and left it at that. No one's business!

people dont even ask, i tend not to show them but it can always happend (even more that i cut in the most obvious spot ever) ;(
I wouldnt have a problem if someone who also cuts themselfs came up to me and asked me about it as a way to start a converstation. I fear the people that never SH finding out or asking me about it the most

Most people who are close to us know us well enough that they don't need to ask anymore. Anyone else, I just tell them that its from stress relief/emotional regulation/e.t.c and leave it at that. They can figure it out from there.

I've never been a cutter but I just don't care what people think anymore. I would simply tell them, "It's whatever you want to call it!" I'm tired of answering questions to people who don't know me. People need to learn to mind their business and for the ones that can't, I take pleasure in helping them

no one ever questioned my scars because i hide them at all times but if someone would, id probably ignore them or say that "oh idk" so they stop asking,, im terrified of someone judging me...

I say I got attacked by a dog. If they don't believe me, I just tell them to not worry about it. But if they are really pushy and want to know, I tell them to f*** off lol

I tell them I cut that it helps soothe something far worse.
