I have a 9 to 5 and tbh it gives my day a form of structure. Now I have two weeks of vacation in front of me.
The days simply don't end and the depression only gets worse.

I'm pretty sure if im going to off myself it will be while i'm on vacation.

When I take vacation days I hop on a plane and jet off to a tropical place. Warm breezes, lovely weather and awesome food. I also can sleep in or stay up as late as I want, wonderful! Now the cost is usually zero, because I travel for work and I am allowed to keep the flight miles and the points at the hotels, so usually my flight and hotel are zero. Without that aspect, I would not be able to do it.

Didn't you have any plans when you took that vacation sth that keeps you "busy" but has nothing to do with your job? I understand that having nothing to do can be so frustrating and tiring. Can't you just skip it and go to work if you feel better doing that?

Not really. Part of the problem is there is nothing i enjoy, except occasional drinking. But thats also not something I want to overdo.

While I of course could cancel my vacation sometime I need to take it.

I go camping. It's pretty much the same as being at home but all small tasks take your attention. Everything is a bit slower and tedious. And then I drink and read or just sit.
It doesn't make anything better but it's nice to get out of the house during off days. Also nice to not have good wifi so I don't waste away on short form video cycles or endless scrolling.

Buying camping equipment can be expensive in the beginning but camping itself is pretty cheap.

Camping would probably work in combination with hiking. But I let my fitness regime slip in the beginning of the year so I gained
a few pounds and lost my condition.

Perfect time to build it up. I used to be very physically active, hiked in Norway but then depression got worse as did my condition. I just started taking short walks and went from there.

Take it slow at first, plan some rest days where you don't hike too much.

Even when I had my old job with lot's of responsiblities it was super hard to simply take some time of. I've always been plagued by a restless mind.
