• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Just the sheer terror of ending your own life I would expect. They probably should address SI more. I accept the pro-mortalist argument about suffering from a mathematical standpoint. No life = no suffering. But the physical reality of ceasing to exist isn't as simple as disappearing. It's also a pretty big deal that living beings tend to not want to be killed. Whatever we say about the undesirability of coming into existence, once you find yourself existing it's not a simple matter to stop.

It might be the liberatory effect of promortalism that makes life seem bearable again for a while. After all death is the thing that the majority of people are terrified of. Overcoming that fear in one stroke is an impressive feat, although it feels a bit like cheating when it's done in this way, but that's besides the point.

Mostly cus of that suicide isn't easy at all and that ctb has the risk of failure which leads to more suffering which is worse than to try to attempt suicide in the first place, especially as more effective methods get restricted. Or they might want to do something to benefit others before dying?

Let's just hope they don't get their hands on a big red button I guess.

Or lets hope they do.

I wish to omit the emergent property of existence.

In a situation where their capacity to enact their CTB is actively intervened like involuntary hospitalization or when close to all methods of conveniently CTB oneself is inaccessible due to restrictions imposed by the state. Also pain being a deterrent that makes it close to impossible to just CTB using any method. Subjects may be left in situations where they can only indefinitely whine or make compelling cases on the legitimacy of their arguments, while living in a world were the very emergent property of human civilization is entirely contingent on having members believe that there is an imperative and an 'ought' to live being the only conceivable reality.

I think the only moment a genuine argument for pro-CBT has been made on any form of media without any straw manning for a narrative goal or the pro-ctb concept not paradoxing itself was in 'The Sunset Limited (TV Movie 2011)'

Like with a lot of things, like belief in God, I believe there can be a spectrum.

I believe in a weaker promortalism, more voluntary. Because if you believe being dead it's absolutely good, some people would justify murdering others.

Because assisted dying is restricted in many countries—either limited to those with terminal illnesses or outright illegal—and many methods of ending life involve significant suffering, that's likely the case.

Because humans can hold views that contradict the actions that they take, and self-disposal can require significant discipline.
