I was thinking about that as well if it takes too long for SN to arrive, anyway having a rope around your neck to make sure that the bag will be tied around your neck and to tie your own hands to avoid SI seem a bit tough

Hmmm, I think it would be hard to fight the SI instincts. Perhaps if you are determined you could make it work?
Peace/hugs

I'm sorry you're contemplating such things. I believe that in most of us the survival instinct would kibosh that plan. No matter how sure our conscious minds are that it's time to go, our bodies are following prehistoric orders to stay alive. It can go to great lengths to do so, even when the rest of me is [a] determined and unconscious.

If I recall what the book Five Last Acts said, if you simply tie a plastic bag over your head eventually you'll be breathing in your own exhaled carbon dioxide which will trigger the hypercapnic alarm response which in turn is what produces that panicky "not getting any air" sensation.

If you want to try this method, FLA advises taking sedatives/sleeping pills (can't remember exactly what was recommended) to put yourself to sleep to avoid the hypercapnic alarm. However FLA also said this plastic-bag-with-pills technique can work but is very unreliable.

I'd keep that plastic bag as an insurance for hanging, but other than that I don't see it happening either. Sorry.

Why not just try it? Not in a serious way but just practice. Use a plastic store bag those that rip easily. You will eventuallky run out of oxygen and see how deprivation of air feels , then all you gotta do is rip the bag and take a breath.
I agree with everyone else though, it's not gonna work if you actually try this method. You'll start panicking that you can't breath and you'll naturally fight to stay alive.

Roommate from my last psych ward did that.

If it's any help, he obviously failed and ended up there.

I attempted this but failed because I took drugs to make it less painful. You need handcuffs for this method or you'll tear the bag off involuntarily. It's extremely painful and I would not recommend it.

Umm, I debated whether to contribute here or not. Well, I tried to find a "plastic bag over the head" suicide video for ya but couldn't find any. However, I came across a video of a woman suffocating, screaming, and struggling in a big plastic/vacuum bag - it's very similar to the "plastic bag over the head" scenario. Here's the link if you're interested: https://www.bestgore.com/torture/bag-whore-suffocates-almost-killed/ The video is a bit disturbing to say at least, so open the link at your own discretion.
