People don't kill themselves because they're sad. You will feel sadness in the lead up to it, but it's not why you do it. If you feel sad, you still love life. You love life so much that things going wrong still make you feel, a lot. You're sad because you so desperately want things to be better, because YOU want to be better, so life getting worse makes you sad, it still effects you, you still love it.
Indifference is worse than hate. Hate means you still feel for that thing, indifference is that thing completely losing it's effect on you. It can't make you sad, happy, angry, etc.
Nothing about it registers anymore.
People kill themselves for 2 reasons.
1: They feel nothing. For whatever reason, they have completely stopped caring. They could lose their house, job, all their money tomorrow, and not feel sad or angry, almost like they expected it. They're health could plummet, they could lose their teeth, their hair, bodily functions, and still think "...whatever". Life has no personal value to them, neither dose their well being, relationships, etc. They've completely checked out. They feel they have no purpose left in this world. The world doesn't want them, and they don't want it. (Side note, that lack of purpose in life can explain why women are more likely to be depressed, but men are WAY more likely to actually kill themselves. Men naturally desiring purpose and a cause to fight for, where as women naturally desire more safety and comfort) They see their life as meaningless and obsolete.
2: Escape. This one is simple to explain. Maybe something bad happened, maybe someone or something is about to get them, maybe they have secrets to take to their graves, maybe some sort of pain they feel is to great to stand any longer. I wouldn't say depression is "pain", rather a lingering weight on feeling. Pain is sudden and extreme, where as depression is slow and lingering. It's a weight on your mood, but it's not what drives you to the end. Suicide is a logical decision. For whatever reason, that person believes that suicide is the logical endpoint, the logical outcome. So many people who do it seemed happy and content with themselves, with life, for a long time before they do it. It's not a spur of the moment, emotionally driven decision. 90% of the time emotion drives someone to attempt CTB, they cower away at the last second, instead using it as the most effective way to cry out for help.
Anyone who has truly made up their mind on this wouldn't seek help. Because that means the people in their life would be concerned, and then they mite try to stop them. Anyone who's truly decided, that would be the LAST thing they'd want.
If you're feeling sad, embrace that emotion. Sadness is beautiful, it means you care, it means you value your life.
