• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Have you ever told anyone that you're suicidal? If so, how did they take it? What happened because you told someone, was it a bad or good thing? I'm asking because no one knows that I am, so I'd like to hear other's experiences.
I told my best friend. At first she told me she would have never noticed that I was depressed and tried to help me by always listening to what I had to say and being there for me. That was March of last year, she knows that nothing has changed since then but I doubt she knows how bad things have got.
I recommend you NOT to tell your friends about it, she's got much more distant and now it's really hard to maintain a conversation without awkward silences.
I really miss the times when we were able to talk freely, now you never really know if they say the truth or if they simply tell you what you want to hear.
Other than that I think a girl I know suspects it as she's also suicidal and her house is hell.

I just make silly puns about "catching the bus" to my friends. Common scenerio includes me saying to my friend after a stay over, "hey (friend's name), will you help me catch the bus?...umm...Drop me off at the bus station?" I enjoy saying that phrase without being caught.

Ctb is better than kms imo. You can say it I'm public and everyone thinks you mean you're actually getting on a bus. Theres so much more you can use/say with catching a bus than killing yourself. Whoever came up with it is a genius.

I have only told my fiance sort of recently and we've been together for 8 years. He was sort of shocked at first but now he just gets mad when i bring it up, and i only bring it up in a "joking" way. I understand why he gets frustrated, but I wish he also understood me more.

I can relate. I only told my boyfriend and mostly strangers online. Online people are pretty nice and understanding. My boyfriend gets mad whenever I bring up the topic. And he scares me that if I say it again he'll kill himself before I do. He had cut his wrist before so he can do it again.

I don't really talk, to me it is something very personal and private.
A few friends over the years have learned that it's often more about what i don't say that gives it away, but it has never been a problem as they know the system is too broken to react before the fact.

Normally i can put on my 'i'm on top of this shit' face for the 2 afternoons i need to leave the house and make like i can run a support group, i cannot do it anymore, i know that the group will have noticed, will be talking about it, but again i have nothing to fear.

A few months back the stress of trying to support everybody in the group got the better of me & i had a diddy meltdown and scared a mate who has the same Cpn as me, the poor bugger phoned up numerous times to try to speak to her about me, she never got to speak to her & they never passed on any messages about her concern, my mate was surprised by their inaction, i wasn't.

The same Cpn has watched me go downhill over the last 18mths, knows from my history what will happen, that i will seek no help & quietly go off to top myself (or try at least) But she cannot ask me outright what plan i have, when or anything as she knows, as i do that no one would admit me before the fact as they don't have any beds, 10yrs ago i'd have been locked up already, not that that has ever stopped me, but now, no chance so happy days.

I haven't told anyone.

Today I made a joke though to my friends at university... I said that 'I was going to try my best on all the test before I hang myself' and they laughed. I was being serious.

I told one of my closest friends I've known for 13 years and they stopped talking to me and I described to another of my closest friend that things weren't okay and they stopped talking to me. It was very much a better than thou throwing away.

A friend of mine quite conspiranoic saw my entries in webs about suicide in the wifi router. I can't remember what happened next.
After try to overdose with diazepam (so naive I was) I went to a psychiatric. My friend called my mother and she called me if I needed money. After that all relations went down (friends, family). I got a girlfriend 6 years after that, and 3 years ago I'm alone.

I talked with my friend about that. I felt like an alien, a wrong person in the wrong time, so insignificant I told him. Nothing got better.

My father knows nothing

I wish I had someone that cared like that...like the person above me people think I'm joking and don't do anything. I feel like if people cared then I'd have a reason to stay but it's all seeming to go numb.

@Thursdaysucks i know I'm only a stranger but I care and I'm sorry that the people around you don't seem to be taking how you feel to heart. I don't know if you know the story of the man who jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge? He was there for some time and told himself he wouldn't jump if one person, just one, asked him if he was ok. No one did - so he jumped. Luckily, for him in his personal circumstances, he survived to tell the tale. I hope you manage to get your feelings across to one of your family or friends and they tell you how much you mean to them :-) x

It's definitely in poor taste. Think about it from another's perspective. They are in a no win situation. They're almost bound to do something. I'm certain there are extraordinary cases of true understanding, but expecting this is foolhardy and will make your situation much, much worse. In addition to putting a cared about person in an Awkward (tstl) position. Don't Do It.

I told my family in the past when I was younger and began thinking about suicide, weren't very understanding and forced me to go to church. Recently I told my mom (she's bipolar and schizophrenic) she just told me to "stop thinking like that". I never wanted to impose my issues onto my friends, so they don't know and never will.

I have and they all want me to seek therapy or call hotline. They dont understand the suffering I am going through. Isolation, constant throbbing head, anxiety, racing heart. I have been through acute benzo toxicity and then Cymbalta discontinuation syndrome and had to be reinstated on valium. I have no peace and no happiness. I have so many who love me but what am I going to do? I hardly sleep and I have zero motivation or interest in anything. Dont even want to eat or shower. Time is of the essence.

@Northerngirl1965 it's horrible going through medication withdrawals and that can have a massive impact on how you are feeling. The symptoms you describe are very much in keeping with the effects of the benzodiazepine withdrawal and reinstating Valium is often done as the symptoms are so awful. Try and eat when you can manage and drink plenty of soft drinks to keep hydrated.

I can totally imagine it feels like no one understands as you are in a really lonely place.

There are plenty of sympathetic people here on this forum. Take care of yourself xxx

I attempted as a teenager a few times. Initially my family was mad, then they were supportive and got me help afterwords. No one knows right now that I'm currently suicidal. And they won't know until I'm dead.
