If I don't have any obligations I will usually stay in bed for up to 20 hours a day, for 5 days out of 7. Eating, drinking water and bathroom breaks are not necessary.

It's been three years of that now, I practically live in my bed and don't leave home often. Sometimes I take my old medications to sleep as much as possible because being awake is painful.

I feel you.

Many times, and it was golden and wonderful each time. Bed is my safe place and my dreams are where I'm truly alive.

Very common for me. I also have bad anxiety at the moment as I feel like my whole life purpose has been ripped away from me because my mental health declined. I've been shunned by people who I thought cared about me. So I have been in bed for ages. Scared to be in it but scared to leave it. *hugs*

I remember I was constantly in bed all day maybe a year ago for a week or two. I was in a catatonic state, numb, couldn't bring myself to do anything, I'd just cry and go back to sleep. I wasn't even covered with a blanket, I was just wearing a long jacket, it was almost like a sleeping bag since I'm pretty short. Now, I try to be more active, but I find it harder to resist sleeping in. It's kind of relieving, escapist, kind of hard to break the habit too I think.

When my illness ME/CFS got triggered I was bed-ridden for months. I had several episodes where I lost my mind.

Goddam it... The things we go through...

That was years ago, though. I look back on that time as the worst moments of my life.

That sounds awful. I'm glad you got through it. How did you? I want to be able to look back at this time too and say something similar but I don't think I'll make it. It's been about 7 months for me, some days being nearly catatonic, which has definitely contributed to my physical ailments. The worst part is I barely sleep more than 3 hours.

Do you have the same diagnosis as me?

I can't stay in bed cause I get to so anxious I have to pace around. Haven't had a full night's sleep in years. I sleep where I fall, in my dressing gown, rarely any blanket so you could say im wearing my bed all the time

No, I don't. But I know of CFS and I know it's hell. Me? I just gave had bad case of debilitating depression, insomnia, anemia, and some underlying hormonal syndromes. Combine that with environmental factors like being unemployed, no longer having friends or a significant other, and not eating to "cope" or because I can't leave the bed, over the course of several months and voila - - I have a myraid of conditions that were likely otherwise preventable.

Thank you for being so kind but honestly most of this could have been avoided and/or remedied if I had an ounce of drive and hope. It's my inaction that's the real issue, unfortunately. Had a massive snowballing effect.

I can't. Not normally. I need to move, to walk.
This said, there were some occasions. I have once spent an entire week in bed. Not mine, though, but in a hospital. A strange hospital that allowed me to smoke normal cigarettes in bed. It was a surprisingly comfortable bed.
It hurt like a motherfucker to learn how to walk again at the end of that week.

This is what I've been doing the past month in lockdown. I just lie in the bed, staring at the ceiling, trying to escape the empty void within me..

About 4 days after an attempted overdose, no one in the family even noticed. To be fair, I do fall into periods of catatonc depression.
I became aware of the catatonic thing after I scared a family member who thought i died mid-sentence.

I've stayed in bed a good 36hrs straight sometimes, in my younger years though when I didn't need to get up to wee every few hours.

Spent 4 days in bed with a woman once too, we only got up to shower together or collect takeaways at the door. Might have stayed there longer but we ran out of cigarettes so had to leave the house, all stiff and bleary eyed like vampires after a summer hibernation.

Been doing this for years. It sucks and gives you sore legs when you go for a walk.
