Absolutely. I only brush my teeth once a day, shower twice a week. Sometimes leave my nails a bit long. Rarely cut my hair, I look homeless. Only shave once a week. Wear the same clothes during the day and at night for half a week at a time. But I like wearing aftershave, when I remember to put some on, it makes me feel better, so I splash on loads. I dress like a hobo! But if I go out I try to put on something nice. But that's rare! And normally I wear a hat to cover up my messy hair which I never brush

Definitely. I have had trouble brushing my teeth consistently since I was born pretty much despite an often times intense fear that I am going to live long enough for it to cause me severe pain and other detriments. Aside from this, I have high difficulty maintaining or doing the rest of the list at all. It genuinely bothers me but I just haven't been able to get these basic things done for years and it makes me feel pretty bad about myself. Of course, during the rare less depressive time periods, I usually manage these tasks just fine but I can never keep it from falling apart for longer than those rare times of near sustenance

Not really hygiene - I still shower at least twice a day, use deodorant, brush my teeth etc. But I haven't been to a barber in over 2 years...I have trimmed my hair myself but it looks like crap so I usually just wear a hat if I go outside. Also have quit going to the gym so I have gained a bit of weight and have very few clothes that fit me anymore, so I basically wear the same thing every day - even though I do wash it regularly. The one pair of shorts that actually fit me just broke today (the zipper) so now I have to go to the store to look for another pair which I dread. But such is life, I guess.

Yes. Many of the points, except things I would not feel comfortable myself.

Yeah, I've stopped taking care of myself almost entirely. I try to brush my teeth before sleep, I take a shower only if I really need to, rarely change clothes. It's been going on for about a year now. So my personal hygiene is basically just avoiding stinking and having food stuck between my teeth. That's about it. I don't brush my hair because I don't go out anymore. This really can't go on any longer if not for guilt bacause my parents I would already be gone.

Anything of that nature has always been a tedious burden and a chore to me, but of course I still do those basic tasks. I mean if someone doesn't brush their teeth then they are basically destined to suffer to such a great extent. It's horrific feeling trapped in the prison that is the human body and all that life is centred around after all is fulfilling endless needs which is something that in no way interests me. It's so pointless and unnecessary as well and simply having to exist makes the thought of non existence sound incredibly appealing.

My hygiene upkeep has also diminished over the years. I only shower on or before the day I plan to go out somewhere nice. (Roughly every couple of weeks?) I also only brush my teeth at night time.

Despite getting non-minty toothpaste, my original reason for not wanting to brush my teeth in the morning was because the minty aftertaste would ruin the taste of whatever I ate or drank until closer to lunch time.

Definitely. I once joked with my doctor that I rate my depression by my oral hygiene.
I like to think that I don't (often) smell horrible, but I deeply know the sensation of being too tired to wash my hair, - lifting my hands up over my head just seems like a lot -or that taking off all my clothes and showering and then getting dressed again would take all the energy I had saved up for the day.

My hygiene is really slipping too. I brush my teeth at night, but I've been neglecting to floss. Everything exhausts me. The smallest of things like taking a shower take a lot of energy out of me. I wash my clothes in the sink because I'm too anxious and tired to use the laundrymat. I shave once every two or so weeks and I only really get dressed if I have to go out somewhere, then it's back into my pajamas I go when I come home. Everything is so tiring for me. I cry all the time wanting to die.

Brushing your teeth: Not as frequently as I should, perhaps twice a week.

Combing, cutting, or coloring your hair: I don't comb it, nor have I cut or shaved my hair, and I do not color it.

Taking a shower: Only when I am reeking.

Wearing perfume: I don't wear any scents; I wear an unscented antiperspirant.

Dressing well: No, I don't. I look disheveled when I dress. (I wear the same clothes every day, washing them by hand as needed.)

Maybe a little, not that much. I still shower, but it's Winter here, so I normally cut down on the showering anyway. I still shower and shave if I have to go somewhere. Since I'm home most of the time and don't have anyone to see, it doesn't make any difference if I let the showering or shaving go for a couple days really. I still brush my teeth at least a couple times a day. It's a habit. I don't really bother getting dressed unless there's something around the house or garage I am doing, which is wuite a bit lately. But, if I don't do anything a certain day, why bother getting dressed, if I'm not going anywhere. In my case, there is no one who comes to my house. Just a fact.

Yup,
Struggling to get up, wash, engage with anything. The only motivator is watching my SN on the tracker towards my house. Then I'll be checking into Hotel. Nice meal. Then stans 48hr life remedy.

Might shower prior to the deed.

Yes it has, I used to shower once a day but now since my life fell apart I draw a bath once a week and change my clothes at the same time, I don't care about hygiene or how I smell, I just want to leave this world and end all my problems

Yeah. All of the above, at some points, plus neglecting my diabetes. Oops. I've been trying to do better about taking care of myself, but it's so difficult when I barely have the desire to exist.

Depression did, for most of my life. I've more recently become actively suicidal but the way I'm suicidal is more "logical". I'm clear-headed; I can look at the pluses and the minuses of ending my life. The way I see it, it'd be better for me to be dead, and there's painless ways to go. Until I commit to it, I'll keep brushing my teeth so I won't get tooth aches (my teeth are pretty shit due to depression and lack of care throughout my life).

I guess it's yes and no. During most of my life, I've just been depressed but I wouldn't say suicidal -- I just would not have cared if I did die. Now that I'm actively thinking of suicide and have concrete plans for it; nah, I take care of myself. I shower only around once every three days though, because I don't socialize or do anything.

I never cared about dressing well or doing things to my hair. I dress casual, always.

I do well in the hygiene department, but only because I feel more suicidal when I don't. For some odd reason, my joints start acting up if I don't do things like wash my hands or brush my teeth. It's probably a somatic thing, but I still try to stay clean. Though there are plenty of days when my body and mind just don't care anymore.

Chronic illness has. I've not had a bath or shower since 2018. I'm 99% bedbound and use wipes im bed but I can't do that very often. I shave my hair off because I can't wash it.

I brush my teeth twice a day in bed and rarely miss that. I'm too scared of teeth issues because I'm too sick to go to the dentist. I do need to go though, my teeth are crumbling away.

Consequence of decades of bulimia and stomach acid destroying my teeth, although I'm not bulimic anymore.

most definitely. i've always had a hard time brushing my teeth but that is because i was neglected as a child and never told i had to. but i shower a couple of times a week and don't brush my hair as often as i should. i haven't gotten my hair trimmed in a year and a half even though i have several inches of dead ends. i'm pretty good about doing laundry though, because i hate rewearing dirty clothes and i'm pretty minimalist so i have to do laundry one a week or i wouldn't have any clean clothes left.

What do you mean what happened? Do you mean why am I bedbound? If so, it's because I have a chronic illness called myalgic encephalomyelitis - ME for short.

Its a complex, multi-system, chronic medical condition. I have very severe ME. It's a living death!
