A lot of people here shit on hotlines a lot, which is fair, they are very limited in what they can do. I used to volunteer at a mental health focused hotline, and I'm curious if anyone else has on here.

I've actually rang the hotline I used to work at as well, so I've experienced both ends of the line.

They were useful for me that you can just let it all out. But it also depends on the operator. Because some of them are like robots who have a stupid script like what little thing you can do today to make you feel better

I used to. I think I was pretty good at it though I did fuck up on one particular instance that still kind of upsets me even now.

I used to work with Crisis Text Line. Overall, I think it's a fantastic organization, and has been helpful in so many ways to so many people. I stopped when I found it hard to believe my own words I'd tell my clients. You can't pour from an empty cup.
