  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I'm diagnosed with a cluster c personality disorder known as avoidant personality disorder. It's considered a chronic condition. I've been seeing a psychiatrist for about 11 years now with absolutely nothing to show for it except for an impressive collection of clonazepam bottles.

This got me wondering if people with untreatable chronic mental disorders are eligible to be prescribed life-ending drugs, and from what little research I've done it's my understanding that they can as long as you are in a location where it's legal and can find a psychiatrist willing to do so.

Currently still looking into it, and researching it, but it would seem that making a road trip to Oregon to see a psychiatrist may yield the prescriptions I'm trying to obtain.

Have any of you ever looked into this? Or have any knowledge about it that I may be missing or misunderstanding?

I have texted with a person from Switzerland here who succeeded with it. He told me it would be way easier than many people think. I doubt that a little bit. I think it is quite expensive. You have to find a psychiatrist who would cooperate.
I hope the laws in my country (Germany) soon change. My parents will be very mad/sad but idc. (They are responsible for this mess.)

I think with a mental illness you have to try many different medication to show you are treament resistant. But I am not an expert.
For me this options sounds the most peaceful. I really would like to do it the official way.

Really? So there is hope for me. I thought that they refuse young healthy people with depression. At least the official websites claim this.

Yes. I was in touch with an organisation in Switzerland (google it) a number of years ago. But I got no where with them. Maybe they'd be more open nowadays?

I've been in touch with a newer Swiss organisation. I'm 63. Life long mental agony. Lots of mental health conditions. It still seems expensive and bureaucratic. It costs about €12000. They want medical records. You need somebody to accompany you. I'm alone but they said I could pay somebody to come with me. They said they would consider my case but it takes longer for mental health patients. No guarantee I'd be accepted. I don't even have a passport any more and I struggle to get out of bed. Hmmm.....

i watched a documentary a while a go about some one in belgium, a young woman in her 20's got a physician assisted suicide approved. i don't remember if it was another documentary, but it was about a woman in an old folks home who had no family and just simply didn't feel like living. i think in the states the 3 states that allow it you have to be terminally ill with a 6 month of less life span. I feel like its a shame that we treat people with that sort of depression that they need to snap out of it or change. I mean wouldn't the world be a better place if the people who just didn't want to fucking participate had a safe out?

Depression is still treatable unlike personality disorders though

Not if your depression is caused by your past mistakes, they will haunt you forever,

Oregon? No. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Doctor assisted suicide for mental illness is not legalized in Oregon

Thanks. That's great. I feel you may be right in some cases. But not mine. Some people are too broken to be fixed.
