I've called the Samaritans twice in moments of desperation when I realised I had no one in real life to call. I wasn't lucky with either call, they both just said 'hmm, that sounds very difficult ' a lot. One told me to ring another specialist charity when they were open three days later. The other guy suggested I join a church 🙃

I used a text hotline a couple days ago, just to have someone to talk to. They were nice and somewhat helpful. I ended up feeling bad for taking up their time when there could be people who need help more than I do, (like imminently suicidal instead of lonely like me) so I just made it as short as possible. They linked me some resources that they wanted me to read which I thanked them for and then went on my unmerry way but with an ever so slightly lighter weight on my shoulders.
