I'm planning to get a rope and I have this as my option. I'll show down below, I am just wondering if it's alright for a start. IMG 5142

My questions are is this a good area to hang? I am planning to do it by a door but I'm not so sure if that's a good idea

Also last but not least, any advice to get through SI. I'm nervous since I haven't hanged myself b4 but I know I need to get it done. Also should I eat before I hang or just fast a couple hours before I do it.

Honestly, I dont think the rope is strong enough, nor is your anchor point. I would recommend a thicker rope that can atleast hold 2/3 of your weight (if youre doing partial). Your anchor point is shite unless you weight like 2kg. I found that doorknobs often work (depends ofcourse) or a sturdy closet. If you havent done it before, it will take some time to get the right method and you will probably struggle a lot with SI.

I'm not sure abt the rope cuz someone recommended me a double braided dock line 1/2 inch. I'll see if I could get a thicker one.

I'll try my closet but idk if it can do because it's pre installed with some shelving. Maybe I'll check the door know but I'm kinda scared since it's too short

ive tried a 3/8 polypropylene rope for full suspension, it doesnt hold my weight, the rope stretches out to a point that the diameter gets so small and starts to break. Get at least a 12mm (1/2 inch). Are you planning on full or partial? The anchor doesnt look very sturdy, it has to withstand at least 1.5x your weight for full suspension (more is better) because you might thrash around when your unconscious. . And for the si, just practice. If you are doing partial, find your sweet spot and you will pass out in less than 10 seconds with no pain. there are many threads explaining that on here. I sit on my bed and take the rope and tie it around my neck and pull both ends untill i pass out. It really helps with si and finding the sweet spot. Practice a lot and make sure your rope and anchor can handle your weight. the last thing you want is to find yourself on the floor with a horrible pain in your neck...

I wanna go partial because I'm uncomfortable breaking my neck. I'm looking for a 12mm one but I'm wondering if the door knob is good for a partial hanging. Lmk and thank u so much for ur advice!

You don't have to break your neck for full suspension.

On the subject of eating, I would personally prefer not to have anything in my stomach, for more comfort. It is better to practice a little beforehand so that you can see how your body will react, and to have the procedure well studied.

3/8 inch dock line will hold 4200 pounds. That is over 2 tons! It will hold you.
Those hooks might not.
Best to fast a couple hours and use the bathroom before attempting.
SI is different for everyone. If you REALLY want this, ease into it and kick the chair or stool away. Don't grab your neck right away. You will feel the pressure.
Make sure your knot tightens easily. That makes it work the fastest. Fast is good!

The doorknob can be good depending on your weight, the strength of the knob, the strength of the door and what position you choose. For partial you can use 3/8 rope, its probably better to compress your carotids. My advice is to test the doorknob once you have your rope to make sure it will hold you, since in partial some of your weight is on the floor so it doesnt have to be as strong. test positions and find your sweet spot. There have been many cases of people successfully doing partial on a doorknob.

Why would you break your neck? Are you builfing a gallows?
Keep it simple. Full is not long drop.

I know of 2 celebrity suicides that died from partial hanging via a door. They hung the ligature from the top of the door and then closed it to hold it in place. I wouldnt use the hook in the picture, but the door itself is sufficient.

Here are two photos from the actual scene of one of them, for clarification.

Do you mind if I ask whether this leaves noticeable marks on your neck after, and if so for how long? I want to start seeing what this feels like and getting more used to it, but don't want to be a walking red flag.

for me, it just looks like a red rash going around the front of my neck, usually it isnt noticeable to anyone. it goes away after an hour or 2 ) It depends on the material of your rope, if its very rough it will leave a more prominent mark.(my rope is very soft), I also use a sock to help with the rash and pain but some people find it more difficult, and it also matters how long you do it for, i usually do it at night for between 30 mins - 1 hr so no one will see it and the rash is gone in the morning. I will test it right now and get how visible it is and how long it lasts.

just did it for 20 mins using a sock as padding, there is a decent size rash on the front of my neck. It doesnt look like a rope line though, its very spread out and its barely even noticeable without looking directly at it, i would assume that this is because of the sock. I would assume without using padding and doing it for longer would make it more visible. Ill update when it fully goes away.
