Half hour later and still no response from the crisis text lines

I woke up in the middle of the night crying nonstop and thought to reach out to the text lines. I texted the 988 and the 741741 ones and it's been a half hour and I'm STILL waiting for a crisis counselor.

I get that it's volunteer based, but they really should not advertise in their sites that they can connect you to a counselor in minutes, because now I just feel more alone that I can't even reach a counselor..

This has happened to me a couple times before and it is very frustrating. I hope a counselor is available for you soon :(

Update: I started the 988 chat at 3:14am and finally heard from someone by 3:54am. So someone did get back to me eventually.
