I don't think it's this site coz from what I know no moderator has ever described this as a "pro suicide discussion forum"
UK users: Due to a formal investigation into this site by Ofcom under the UK Online Safety Act 2023, we strongly recommend using a trusted, no-logs VPN. This will help protect your privacy, bypass censorship, and maintain secure access to the site. Read the full VPN guide here.
Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Definitely not!Uh.......you're not one of those "researchers" we infer on this site studying us, are you?
Finally a whistleblower with morals to step forth and tell it like it really is. That's our SS equivalent of Snowden!Uh.......you're not one of those "researchers" we infer on this site studying us, are you?
It will suffice for cancel culture standards to cancel out our community. The study if full of biases. If I presented something like that to my university, they would tell me to redo it from scratch.
I agree with you.Since I arrived here a short time ago, I have been suspect that a site like this could be used by all types of people wanting to "study" this aspect of human existence. Frankly, some of the posters on SS , I believe, right now, are "posers" for whatever purpose. I think some are psyche students doing research for papers, maybe even professor doing research, etc. There's a current SS member who continuously starts threads with new questions that, I think, are just a little bit to pointed and specific, having a different "feel" about them than a lot of the questions and observations, I believe, are being posited by "genuine" members. I don't know, juts my observations.
That's good to know. Sounds like an extremely worthwhile and necessary endeavor.Definitely not!
I'm working mostly with GIS systems, monitoring land use/cover changes and helping identify illegal deforestation and occupation
But whom is this poster they are referring to?I
I agree with you.
Thank you. I think the same. It's one of the few things keeping me afloat in the momentThat's good to know. Sounds like an extremely worthwhile and necessary endeavor.
This is my experience too, with research at university. The caliber of output required from your field (GIS) and most natural sciences is way higher than that in a lot of psychology/sociological studies. If I submitted papers with so many biases and unfounded assumptions in Neuroscience, I'd certainly fail or get a mediocre mark. The study if full of biases. It's all about advancement of human race and less about understanding its deeper sociological issues...This is my experience too, with research at university. This seems like a very shallow study lmao. How did they get approvedAttachment as proof

When I have looked at the current psychology research being done at very prestigious institutions, a front page research group's magnum opus was a Google forms survey with an image of a minion on it.

As a psych student at least we have an excuse for doing dumb studies like that to get a grade. We have no funding for a lot of resources, we do not have enough background knowledge nor time or care to put in the work. What are these professional university professor and research teams excuse besides just taking in money from a commission or going with the "trend" that everyone obsesses over the same things for.
This is what $10k on fiverr gets youSounds like they outsourced research on freelance website.
Why take SN when you can just use the therapy box for 15 minutes? Clearly they've given us an equal solution like all big companies and the general public has.The problem with this kind of suicide-related study is that it can end up in "fear mongering".
Take SN - it was quite freely available a while back. Once the media/researchers/what-not taken a whiff of the use of SN for CTB, a lot of vendors (Amazon, eBay, etc.) stopped selling it to individual under pressure from people.
A few weeks back, when I was looking for SN, there was a seller of SN (99.9% pure per the product info) in Amazon and the top review (with hundreds of upvotes) was complaining that SN should not be sold in Amazon because it "caused death among the youths". The review has nothing to do with the product. The seller is now longer available in Amazon.
First time I am seeing this. What does it do?Why take SN when you can just use the therapy box for 15 minutes?![]()
It's just a nice looking cubicle room with a computer that plays videos of mindfulness exercises and positive affirmations. I'm not sure if it ever was widely implemented in the warehouses since it got immediate backlash. I am thankful for these highly acclaimed university studies.First time I am seeing this.
