Preface
I've seen a few posts here and there, so I thought I'd write up an easier to follow guide for accessing the dark web. Keep in mind that this guide is significantly simplified, and without employing proper measures your anonymity is not guaranteed. Purchasing something from the dnm's is a crime, but if you're okay with the risk, read on. This can be scary to read, but it's worth noting that unless you're purchasing a commercial/trafficable quantity of substances, you should be fine even without proper opsec.

What exactly is the Dark Web?
You will know that you're on a dark web site when the site ends in .onion. Sites with the .onion extension are not indexed and catalogued by clearnet search engines like bing or google.

The Distinction Between Tor and Chrome/Firefox/Safari

At first glance, Tor probably looks extremely similar to your regular browser; and that's because it is quite similar. The one major difference that matters to you, is that you're able to access sites with a .onion extension.

Finding the DNMs (Dark Net Markets)
If you've ever tried to search for dark web links via Tor, you might've noticed that none came up. This is because duck duck go – the default search engine for Tor – is a clearnet search engine that purchases most of its search results from bing. This is where sites like dark.fail come in handy.

Dark.fail is the most trusted site when it comes to dark web links. If you're getting your links from anywhere else, there is high chance that you'll run into a scam website and will lose all of your money. So only stick to links from dark.fail.

Accessing the DNMs
You'll have the most luck with the market "Empire". Once you've entered the Empire url from dark.fail into the Tor search bar, you can take a look around so you can get an estimate price of how much crypto you'll need to buy. It's recommended that before accessing any market websites, you should click the shield icon near the top-right of the Tor task bar and change the setting to "safest".

Purchasing BTC
There are two main types of services when it comes to purchasing crypto. KYC (know your customer) services like kraken or anonymous trading sites. With KYC services you must submit some form of legal identification in order to purchase crypto with fiat 'government' currency (e.g. dollars or pounds).

KYC services have quite a lot of funding and are reasonably intuitive, so I would recommend purchasing your crypto through them rather than another anonymous service. There will be a small fee tacked onto your order, but I would say that it's worth it for the ease of use.

Remember: thousands of people are purchasing crypto every day, so there would be no reason for your crypto purchase to stand out if you were to use a KYC service.

Transferring BTC to Your Wallet
It isn't recommended to transfer your BTC from the KYC service directly to the market wallet, as this can throw red flags. To get around this, you should use an intermediary wallet. Simply download an anonymous wallet and transfer your crypto to this wallet. Please make sure to check reviews of the wallet you download first, because there are a lot of scams around and you don't want to lose all your crypto.

Placing Your Order
Now that you've got your crypto in your intermediary wallet, you can head back to the DNM on Tor and place an order. Here's a few tips when it comes to ordering:
  • Only transfer the required amount of crypto + a few dollars worth in case of changes in rates. Do not leave your crypto in your market wallet as markets can exit scam, and you'll lose everything in your wallet.
  • Use your real name and address when making an order. Having a fake name can raise suspicion at the postal office. The post office have no idea what's in your office and will not be opening it unless the vendor has done a really shitty packing job.
  • Always, always, always check vendor reviews. This will give you a good indication of whether someone is trustworthy or not. If you want to do a more indepth look into a vendor, you can try searching them up on "dread" which is like reddit for all things dark-web related. You can get the link for dread from dark.fail
  • Unless absolutely necessary, order domestically. International customs are a lot more likely to discover your parcel when it's coming from a 'hot-spot' country like China or the Netherlands.
  • Always use an escrow system. If a vendor asks you to finalise early (FE) – don't. With an escrow type service, you choose when the funds are released. So only release the funds once the package actually arrives.

Please remember that this is one of the least secure methods of ordering from the DNMs. If you would like more security, take a look through the "DNM Bible" for some information on how to get started. Namely, you'll need to install tails and learn how to use PGP/GPG.

Regardless, good luck with your order and if you have any further questions just send me a PM :)
