This woman was granted euthanasia on grounds of mental suffering:

I read that with envy.

I want a sedative to put me to sleep then a drug injected to stop my heart. That sounds so peaceful. Why are we not granted access to this? It feels so cruel to make us suffer.

I'm also so envious of Dutch citizens. They're one of the few groups of people who can just die in peace if they want to.

I've been wondering what secular states say to justify the ban on euthanasia. It's clear why they actually don't want to support it, but just what excuse are they using?

This woman was granted euthanasia on grounds of mental suffering:

While it is an interesting read, and does bring up a long of emotions in relation to CTB, this line caught my eye:
... in 2023, there were 138: 1.5% of the 9,068 euthanasia deaths.
which I feel is very misleading. Yes, 138 out of the 9068 euthanasia deaths were from mental health issues. But that line doesn't seem to account for the assumed hundreds or maybe even thousands of suicides that followed those who did not get approval for the procedure.

Thousands of people who had to CTB in various methods, most excruciatingly painful due to how the system is built.

You, the system, didn't prevent people from dying. You just allowed it to be done humanely.

What else?
Well as I said, I don't know for sure. Religions claim it's a sin because human life is sacred. As for the justifications of secular governments, I'm not sure. Maybe they count it as murder and murder is immoral and so self-murder shouldn't be allowed. I don't know.

The same thing many of them say about trans kids (though I'd argue that this argument at least makes slightly more sense regarding suicide).

It's a "big decision" that has potential for regret—or hypothetical regret in the case of suicide, like "if they had stayed alive would they have been happy eventually?"

Could be. Many still consider it a criminal act, to protect the public good and uphold the principle that life should not be intentionally terminated.

Yeah and I suppose so many would abuse the means of euthanasia to get out of 'life problems' like breakups, debt, grief etc.

However, I do believe it should really be made more available to those suffering from physical and mental health problems without a desired prognosis.

Funny how they couldn't care less if you come to regret your choice when it comes to military conscription or working 12-hour shifts 4 times a week. That's not banned anywhere.

It's pretty similar in fashion to outlawing the death penalty. The death penalty is usually outlawed since you need to be 1000% sure that the defendant is guilty, because once they're gone, you can't bring em back. Plus, it makes for a convenient power abuse in society- if someone with enough power can get you prosecuted, they essentially can go ahead and murder whoever they want. Unlike jailtime where they have the chance to come back.

Euthenasia is many times the same. It's a complicated procedure since you need to be 1000% positive that the person WANTS to be euthanized. That NO one forced them to say that they want to be euthanized. That this isn't a misunderstanding. That this isn't an impulsive decision. Even in the article, the lady in question says something like "It's not like you can go in on Monday and be dead by Friday"- even in the countries where it is legal, they need to be 1000000% sure that this is meant to happen. Because once they're gone, there's no coming back.

We currently have pedophilic, mill/billionaire warmongers in power everywhere on the planet.

Do you think those would like to give up their "supply"?
If you are underage you will be sent to private islands
If you are then over the age of school you are fantastic cannon fodder. Can't use you as a meatshield when you already found a peaceful exit, right?
And if all of that does not apply then you can still be used as a wage slave :>
Think about the Shareholders!!! /s

I don't know if you knew this when making this post, but this is actually true based on fact lol

So people are only keeping us alive because CTB causes them to lose money

The financial toll of suicide on society is also costly. In 2020, suicide and nonfatal self-harm cost the nation over $500 billion in medical costs, work loss costs, value of statistical life, and quality of life costs.

It's not that easy to get euthanasia in the Netherlands, this woman was declared untreatable and probably must have waited 2 to 3 years until approval. It takes 2 doctors and 2 shrinks in this case to get a green light. How do I know this because I'm in the same trajectory now. It's not easy and if they feel the slightest form of treatment is still possible you don't get the green light.

I really understand, I see so much terrible extreme cruelty in how I cannot just have the option to peacefully cease existing and never suffer again so finally I can be at peace from the terrible torture of existing and to me existing will always be so torturous, to suffer in this existence really is something so terrible and dreadful to me, this existence just never should had been imposed at all.

I find it horrific how the torture of existing can continue for decades longer just for one to face the extreme agony of old age, denying the option to be euthanised with the suffering and torture of existing seen as to force and prolong no matter what is such a terrible crime to me, I'll always see anti-suicide as just being horrific extreme cruelty, all that anti-suicide does is cause way more harm and suffering in this existence where there is no limit as to how much one can be tortured.

That's still not ideal. The ideal situation would be if Nebutal/Pentobarbital or something similar could be bought easily and cheaply at a regular store, like shampoo, for everyone. But she had to see several doctors first and then endure this tasteless process, – over years. And before this psychiatric abuse with ECT and antidepressants, therapy. They still want control over our bodies, just like they do with abortion. I think at least the SN, Hanging, Gunshot or the CO method are a big F**k you to those damn people.

There is no better way to die than under general anesthesia IMO. Unfortunately humans are still a society of barbarians that are not humane enough to allow this to be a basic right. Instead, we're expected to endure this shit world where corrupt pedophiles rain missiles down on innocent children in order to line the pockets of their billionaire oil cronies.
