And pretty sure this site is what was considered offensive.

On Monday this week, I went to the library and I noticed something was off because bluelight ( a drug harm reduction site) along with this site were banned under the heading "Administrator Custom Block List" i.e. someone selectively banned this site.

Then the library manager came and told me she was taking my card because there were a number of complaints from the people who were also using the public PC's that I was viewing offensive material along with "terrorist material" (apparently a 9/11 conspiracy video and documentary constitutes as terrorism)).

A bit ridiculous don't you think? I didn't make a scene.

I woulda thought it is. I would say if it was illegal or something like that it'd be fine but I'm not really sure that this would be considered offensive or illegal though

Wow. I'm shocked. My best friend from high school is an actual librarian at a public library; I will ask her about this.

Yeah, they have the security set very tight these days in public access sites. The new norm.

apparently a 9/11 conspiracy video and documentary

It all hinges on the exact nature, including your intentions in all likelihood too, so

A bit ridiculous don't you think?.

Yeh. How do you deal with that crap. Do we want to go back to dark ages before education, free speech and freedom of information? When I doubt the words "propaganda and censorship were even words ... but it still happened ofc

What do you expect from a bunch of cowardly braindead normies... Anything outside their little box, they call a mind, frightens them to insanity. And the news isn't helping with all the news about people going on rampages, terrorists and stuff like that. It makes them even more paranoid. Western society has become very...conformist and cowardly, these past 2 decades... You are lucky, they didn't call the FBI on you or some shit like that. Whenever you are in public, act normal.

My guess is Some really stupid people saw you on a suicide site and then assumed you were a T because of a 9/11 video.

Just a 9/11 documentary could have triggered them. Because the documentary will show footage of the attack. So they look at his screen and see the footage. And then, they can't comprehend why someone would want to learn more about 9/11 or see such horrific footage again and their imagination goes wild.

In public, any deviation from stuff like this on your screen can lead to being seen as strange...weird...dangerous...insane...

There has been talk on installing a software on school networks that allows staff to identify students who search for suicide methods to get them "help".

More so, they can lock the person up out of paranoid fear even though there is a difference between suicide and homicide...

I thought you were going to say you were watching porn in the library. SS is positively wholesome by comparison, especially considering some of the stuff I found earlier in the week. A grapefruit was involved.

But yes, the dystopian, single-narrative world is upon us. I remember people around me complaining about thought police/PC culture etc in the 90's - if they only knew how good they had it back then.
