Sorry about this and don't want to step on anyone's toes or move out of my lane, but seen a few new members join and the wording in their questions somewhat concern me so would be good to get a steer from those who know.

We have had a few joiners over the past few days that have concerned me with the questions that have posed, especially in the first few posts of their time here and certain wordings that seem like entrapment.

Seen a poster who specifically states "Help me to suicide". Now I don't know if that person is at the end of their tether and is so just frustrated they just blurt it out. But if anyone responds to a question like that, does it count as conspiracy to assist?

Also seen and again in my opinion, new members who just seemed to be a bit off within their first postings. Had one today looking for a video of someone actually cbting. I have to think that people who are against this site are monitoring it and these things can play to their advantage. You can imagine the news headlines of "Ghouls sharing death videos" or "Helpless person given a prescription to die". Neither of those reflect what this site does, but all it takes is one event.

Maybe I am a bit too conspiratorial in nature so its possible that I am making a mountain from a molehill. But sometimes its better to be careful rather than having excellent 20/20 hindsight

The one thing you can say about the majority of members, regardless of whether you get on with them or not, is that they try to help. Its the lifeblood of this site. I guess I am saying if it looks weird, use a follow up question to ascertain whats going on. Had a moment yesterday with @LMFAO FOCKERS , we had a real eyebrow raising conversation with a new strange user who was responding to another legitimate new user in their intro. Some of their responses would be hilarious in other forums, but for this forum, we took it quite serious.

Let me add one more thing to your fear, i see new members come directly to post personal polls, like asking about Ages, worst acts you did to be suicidal .... and so, from my personal view, such topics treat us as guinea pigs.

That was from the user I was talking about. It was very obvious they were here on a mission to do something

I've also been getting some weird vibes lately. There seem to be a lot of super rushed, desperate initial posts lately. And very prying ones, as was mentioned.

Obviously, I haven't been here as long as some, but I lurked quite awhile before joining. The traffic right now just seems a bit off from what I've witnessed in the past.

It makes me uncomfortable for a few reasons. I don't like watching people potentially harm themselves out of carelessness or ignorance, but I also don't want trouble. I've been wondering if this is just a normal ebb and flow of the forum traffic, though. We've lost a lot of users lately, but we've gained a lot, as well. I just wonder where a lot of this is coming from?

I think it's a good idea to use common sense when interacting. It's all we really can do.

Stan, you were not the only one that was at least wondering. You now know that. I was seeing some posts from users that were asking in no uncertain way how to commit suicide, and they had not been members for long. And it seemed like they had done no research at all. I didn't know if that was normal for this site. I have only been here 2 weeks. I wanted to say "Why are you asking somebody else?", "Do some research.", but thought it would only be taken in a negative way by everybody. I at the same time was suspicious. It is a reporter, law enforcement, a blogger? I wanted to post the same type of thread you have here. I thought I might just be thinking paranoid, or negative. I still don't know what to think. Who goes to a website and seriously asks "Any advice how I can kill myself? What's the best way? Thanks." I think a person would WANT to do their own research, not rely on what somebody else said.

...and here is one just posted. The user joined 3 hours ago.

Yeah... I've noticed a few who claimed to have certain substances but then had no clue how to use them. Like... Why on Earth would you get it first and THEN try to get directions on how it works? Seems backwards, and that's suspicious.

Before doing extensive research, I'd never heard of SN, for instance. So it wouldn't have occurred to me to buy it and then come here and ask people what to do with it. Maybe my brain just works differently. LOL

Thats a really good point. Most people find this site not by looking for the site name but by googling a particular method that they may have seen in LostAllHope. I'm not suggesting we go 'all Salem' and do a witch hunt as its counter productive, but certainly be observant with new members.

I ignored these users, and did not stop to consider i might be paranoid. They either currently lack the mental capacity and agency to ctb or it is bait, most probably the latter especially with the probing polls. There was anothet poll maker vulture who got thankfully banned.

It's soo simple @Stan.. IGNORE THEM!!! you don't have to be rude to them or hurt their feelings just because you think they have bad intentions.. Not everybody has the same mind as you. And who know? you might be one of them? right?
What if you are the one trying to trap people?
Don't forget that we are all here for the same reason!

And to add something, a lot of people visite this website daily even tho they don't have an account.. and I was one of them.. Even tho I just created my account today I've been visiting this forum and reading posts since the month of July. This explains why some users ask some sensitive question right after creating their accounts because they just want to get informations that can help them catching the bus successfully. You can ignore them if you think they have bad intention.. being an old member doesn't make you superior or something

I hope you are just as cocky if police turns up at your door for answering the question 'How do I kill myself?'. If you cannot see that this is not the same as asking about the technicalities of an action you independently decided on, you won't see it even if people get blue in the face.

So no, 'how do I kill myself' is not the informations you should be looking for on this site.

Btw, would you be kind enough to tell us how precisely it helps somebody ctb to know 'the worst thing we've done in our lives'?

Interesting.......

So let's give some context to our late viewers who may have missed an episode or two of this fine soap opera. I appreciate being challenged, and if I am wrong I will be only to happy to apologise in front of everyone as it would be the right and honourable thing to do. So how did we get to where we are now. Well one of the things I am is a bit of an investigator. I had to use those type of skills back in the day when I was working and no, I am not police or a PI or anything in public service. So I like bringing clues together and come up with a hypothesis, and more often than not, I was correct. Which makes me such a fiend with my particular cbt method as I have practically written a dossier on the subject which I will be posting to PN on my demise. So with that background, lets continue...

You did your first post today, in Suicide Discussion you posted a thread "If I had a wish....". So I can look at this in a few ways. You posted it in the wrong Forum section. That happens, if nobody has ever made a mistake on a computer then I would say that person has never used a computer, so I accept the slip of the finger thing completely and utterly. But the interesting thing is that you never offered one wish first to give context to the question. Leads my thoughts to either fishing or too young to understand the subtle socialites of starting a conversation.

In the same thread, I somewhat had the feeling through your lexicon and communication style that for some parts, it was quite upbeat which is unusual for the Suicide Discussion section. Few "lols" and and heart shaped emoji, could not help of thinking of a young person was writing that. Not that a young person cannot be depressed or suicidal, just that the rule for this forum is 18 and above. There are a few other things, but realistically they are 'too gut feel' to say as they are easily pulled apart.

Interesting inset in a post that you gave, and I quote " I am just bored, lonely and sad ". That can obviously be taken two ways. But in my short time here (and you state you have been a guest viewer since July which makes you way more experienced on this forum than I) I have seen some amazing first posts where the member has just put everything out on the table, warts and all. Again I had to reflect on your age with a statement like that, not that it can't be shared by older folks, just interesting that it was the first statement regarding your feelings.

I also had to check my behaviour in my writing in your posts. I can admit I am sarcastic. I can admit at times I do use comedy in the wrong places. But I could not see in our interaction exactly where I had a direct dialogue with you and was rude. If I am mistaken, please link or cut and paste the offending section where i was rude to you so I can reflect and make the appropriate apologies.

This is all with canvas of my original thread that I posted yesterday, and only today someone posted something that really could have gotten someone in a lot of trouble f they responded with the help they wanted.

Ignoring is not an option when you see potential threats to the forum. We have a handful of mods on the page and they cannot be on 24/7 and look at every single entry that happens in real time. So we have to take collective responsibility. Whether it be something that is posted in public or support members that are being harassed in private messages. No,I don't think I am superior, I am in the ultimate same boat as all the serious members here. I have my method, I have the equipment, I have the logistical planning done with finances. So I only see myself as a peer. But if I see something that looks a bit odd, I will say it and happy to back it up with my reasoning for people to either agree or disagree with.

So in conclusion, if you can point out the parts of your thread that i was directly rude to you rather than myself making a general statement to the forum, I will be happy to review and make appropriate reparations if necessary.

And to all other readers, yes, I am trying to restrain my paranoia, but with the examples we have even had today, its a tough battle.

If a member asks a very sensitive question, you should either ignore them or tell them that kind of questions are not allowed or warn other people to think about their answers before replying to that question but without hurting that member's feelings because you simply don't know if they have good or bad intentions behind their post..
You don't have to attack them and make them feel guilty for asking a question.
Also this is a suicide related forum so its okay to have people asking about methods or ways to kill themselves and also people who share methods.
Yes and No, I guess it's the way folks should say it. And of late and this isn't aimed at you we've had people wanting to be goed
into committing suicide.

I agree with the lot of you. It has been a strange turn of events these last few days. I've seen newcomers post 1 thing, then never return.

The one thread "How do I suicide", threw red flags up instantly. It's not hard to tell who is trolling when you've been here for a while.

Usually I'll wait 2 or 3 days before I respond to someone new just to see how they respond to other users.. Not always, but sometimes.

Not taking up for @Stan but may you should take your own advice @LaPerla?? #justsaying

----------------------

And by saying those things you made other people reply in a toxic way..

No one can "make" people do anything. Every individual has their own mind. Maybe its possible @Stan was the first to voice an opinion that already existed. If I had responded that way then maybe I'd labeled the bad guy here. The "1st" always bares the load.

It's also quite possible that being a victim of bullying can make one overly defensive. I've been a victim myself and I know the damage and mindset it creates.

Not taking sides but honestly I wouldnt care what one user says to me if my intentions were pure. #justsaying (but then again maybe that's just me?? idk)

Plenty of people are gonna say chit we dont like to us. That's life....It's happened to me on the forum (what a shocker!!! :pfff:)

@Stan whatever :eyeroll:

@Empty Smile We are not here to make friends or have serious relationships with people on here to focus on how they act..
Not everyone wants to make a boring long post about their life to show they are serious. There are people who just want get informations and leave.
This forum has mods, if you don't like a post just report it and they will take care of it!
I just re-read my post. Nowhere did I state I was looking for a relationship. If that's what I wanted, I would go to a dating site.

As for friends.when I first came here, it wasn't my intention to make friends, but I made some pretty damn good friends here.

Now you want to twist my words around? Add something I didn't say? Try harder.

I said my piece. Don't like it? Do as you said and report it.

You know what? Nothing surprises me anymore on this forum.. Especially after reading the post of the girl from Uk who took SN and failed.. People went from ''I love you.. Rest in peace'' to '' She is probably a troll..'' Why? Because she failed.. And one of them was that guy @Stan or whatever... There is no difference between people here and people in real life.. FAKE PEOPLE!

Why on earth are you coming to a forum expecting something different than real life? This place is a small sample size of people that exist in the world.

Why are you shocked??

Why are you so combative? Does this thread touch a nerve? You seem to have a serious grudge against this forum and the people on it, but from what I can tell, you've attacked first every time. I'm guessing you feel slighted somehow, but you really aren't giving anyone the chance to help you. What is it you're hoping to gain?
