I'm just gonna try to explain this from an incredibly simple point of view. With shawn (mattos?) Death, her mother has raised hell on this forum. She has reported this site to law enforcement many times. Articles have been written about this site in mainstream media outlets like buzzfeed. Something you wouldn't know as a new user is that there was massive amounts of people who found the site, joined and actively tried to persuade people from taking their lives. Most of those users have been banned. I reported many and so did other users of this site. They're gone now. Shawn's mother is now trying to pass a law that would land people harsher sentences for encouraging suicide. Now, I've been Here since August of 2018 and throughout that time, encouraging suicide has always been explicitly stated as against the rules, again, something you may not have known since you are relatively new. When threads are titled "help me commit suicide" or "what terrible things did you do that brought you to suicide" or "poll: should I wait till my cold is over to commit suicide" we have a right to question the intent of that particular user. It sounds and is very concerning especially with the knowledge that law enforcement is watching us. Her mother is pissed off but for right now, I'll keep my opinions about her to myself. I dont know how you don't grasp the concept.

Maye these newbies (I am one) don't know or are not totally familiar with these ingrained rules and regulations (not the offiial ones-but just what you long term users feel is 'ok' - and will not make you feel paranoid), and what linguistically is a way that older users deem ok to ask for advice-I would say that considering they have just decided to join a suicide chat room for the first time in their life that yes there is a high probabilty they are at the end of their tether and full of desperation. Also I am not 100 per cent sure if it was me but I did mention a video in a post-I was not looking for a link to it or anything just wondering if anyone else had seen it-as it obviously directly relates to many discussions on one of the methods threads-if it was a reference to my post (just in case)-I can reassure you I am not monitoring this site

Someone was looking to get a video of someone cbting which I actually clarified with him what he was looking for and said yes, he was looking for a video of someone killing themselves using his preferred method. Asking for advice is what this place is for. But there have been some recent requests that in my opinion, stray into the illegal.

As for the post, people are in charge of their own decisions. The quest for knowledge is deep within us all. As humans we are always wanting to know more. IF someone wants to know something, if I know the answer, I'll tell them. What they do with that knowledge is up to THEM. I don't hold anybody's hand, I won't tell somebody "do it" or "don't do it". I'm not going to sugarcoat it, there are websites showing the real life grim reality of this world. People getting chopped up, shot, dare I say raped, mutilated, sold for money, videos of it all to back it all up. Among those videos, is suicide. I do not live behind rose colored glasses and as someone who has seen 46 of 50 states as a retired trucker and has been to 3 countries (Mexico, Canada, and Germany) I can tell you, life ain't a game. It's crazy how when we are kids we are oblivious to all the excessive violence that is drowning in the world beyond our giddy fantasies. If someone wants to bypass life and go straight to the inevitable fate, who am I to tell them to or not to? I personally have Bipolar 1, which is mostly manic and can sometimes on rare occasion, lead to psychotic breakdowns. I have lived on alcohol since 18 and weed since 20 (I'm 28) to just cope, to feel something other than this burrowing recklessness some would call a mentality. Tried medicine it just gives facial ticks and a headache. To wake up everyday and just get the ambition to go to work so I can maintain a lifestyle instead of just saying "fu$% it" is a milestone every single day.
SO if someone told me if I asked them "what's a painless way of just going straight to the other realm" and they answered me, my decision is not theirs. (I'd go with carbon monoxide)
To start fresh, to avoid the heartache and constant reminder within my own head, that I am not in control over my own emotions and I need "help" and to be put on a medicine to be normal. What is normal? What is common? Is it a renown definition by God or just a man made perspective we are force fed to believe from day 1? It's our life and we control what's in it, if we feel it should end, we should be allowed to do so without someone pointing blame at someone else or feel like we have to charge someone for someone's decision. One thing is for sure, when it is my time to go it's my time to go and if I say it ends early I'll be damned if I make it look like one of y'all HELD MY HAND.

For me as the OP, I just want to refer back to my original post as i don't want the message to be lost and forgotten. We just need to be aware and be careful. We all have a responsibility for ensuring that we help keep the site running by not giving reasons for it to be shut down.

And make no mistake folks, this site & its members are under attack. Read up on current events with Shawn's Law & #murderbyproxy. We are being called predators and murderers and more here. Their #1 objective is to shut this site down. We must remain hyper vigilant and no @LaPerla, it is not just the 5 overly-taxed Moderators responsibility to do so.

All joking aside, I lurked here reading copious amounts of posts, spent untold hours learning methods, who's who, etc. for a month+ before I joined/posted. I think it's the best way to get your sea legs because the sheer amount of information here is astounding.

I was curious about age too-as I got the general impression that most on here were alot younger that I but seems it is a mix; I guess some times a poll type question-just does stem from a general point of interest as to why, how and at what point others also have reached the point we are all at-i.e. contemplating ideas of waiting at that bus stop with a one way ticket
