I really hate when people will just beat you down and keep saying to you that you could get better but choose not to. Your life could turn around, but choose not to. These are all people who 1) don't have a mental illness 2) have a mental illness that wasn't too serious that the life damages were irreparable or 3) They had a huge life changing opportunity pop into their life that they were able to ride with and change things for the better.

Some of us don't fall into those categories and we can only try to get better so much. Sometimes there isn't a cure, there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel and I feel
For those of us who know we don't have that light, it can become very painful and degrading to keep hearing if we just push longer and suffer longer, one day that will all magically change

Absolutely. It takes a huge amount of fight to pull yourself out of despair- plus- the will to fight in the first place. I just don't think that most people understand that a lot of us simply don't have that will- it's been knocked out of us. Plus, many of us don't see the point in very much at all. Hard to fight for what you don't believe in.

It really is best to take no notice of people who say things like that. They will never be able to understand as they are not living our lives. I think that anyone who thinks that things will always get better for everyone is delusional. In this life it can be impossible to escape from suffering and the reality is that things often just get worse. To me it's wrong to invalidate what others are going through. People are already suffering enough without others saying harmful things.

THIS. I don't have the energy to keep fighting; it's overwhelming and is causing more stress and pain for me. Everything I want and loved was taken from me… I sit in the darkness daily now Just waiting for things to end

I 100% agree. Inside and out. Externally, I've been in a previous position where my circumstances offered no choice unless I wanted to endure an extraordinary low quality lifestyle. My external environment got better out of luck. It was all luck, there was nothing I could have done.

Internally, as I go deeper into recovery I realize how little I actually control my mental health or physical issues from trauma. It is an absolute battle to rewire this mess and it's completely reasonable to not want to take that on. People don't understand mental health. We don't suffer by choice and we aren't unreasonable for wanting release.

I'm so sorry. That sounds like a very dark and lonely place to be. Life is so cruel. It's terrible to think just how many people are out there suffering right now.

Thank you so much for saying this. I really really agree. I consider it a privilege that even now I feel just 'ok', to me this already is an immense gift. The fact that I have been able to feel better sometimes is a huge privilege. There were many factors that have helped me that resulted from privilege, like access to therapy and access to psychedelics. Having the means to move far away from the person who severely abused me. Even without more material help just 'getting better' not matter the circumstances is a huge deal and yes a huge privilege.

Yes. Even assuming someone has the incredible resources required for treatment, there's absolutely no guarantee that anyone will improve.

Same here. It's all about luck in terms of change, but internally we can't always make changes there. That's the case for me. My depression is swallowing me whole

Glad you're using psychedelics. They're an amazing tool when used properly. They used to be one of my favorite substances
