German comedian suddenly died at the age of 52

He was called MIrco Nontschew. Not sure if it was suicide. Normally it is not good to speculate. The cause of death is not clear at the moment.
However if this was suicide I would be shocked. The notion of a depressed comedian is so sad. Someone who always tries to be funny and make people laugh.
I knew him from my childhood. He was always funny but I was not a big fan due to the fact I barely watch TV anymore.

One reason might be there is as far as I know no German speaking active suicide forum. But I am not sure. The last one I was in was from Switzerland. (Many things were forbidden.) Nowadays noone visits it anymore.

Depression is quite well known for impacting a lot of top comedians. Recall there being a few notable suicides in the past.

I'm German, but I live in the US. I heard about the guy's death today and my first thought was suicide. He was in shape and too young to just pass. But then again, who knows. Covid is taking lives of healthy young ones too. So does cancer. We will find out at some point. Poor guy. He was actually really funny.

I only found a source in yellow press. The BIld-Zeitung had it as exclusive information and other yellow press copied it.

It says died a 'natural death'
That could be illness, cancer, Covid, a booster shot, no vaccine at all, an accident, or a heart attack.. I found the articles, not very specific at all. But then again, it's up to his loved ones to make that public, if they desire to do so.

How do you identify the nationality of a member? Maybe the English of Germans is easy to identify compared to the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Scandinavia and India. Greetings from the heart of Prussia.

We have about 80 million inhabitants in germany. I just checked on some other european and euro-asian countries and germany is surprisingly habitated. It has almost double as many inhabitants as spain, 15 million more than france. Germany also tops countries like austria, norway, poland or bulgaria BY FAR (norway has only about 5 million).

The only countries I checked that dopped germany are turkey (very slightly) and russia (almost double).

Im really surprised by this, germany is among the smaller european countries, but apparently, everybody is living here.
Still, it's a joke to a lot of asian countries of course, like india.

So yes, the sample size is quite big.


There is at least one functioning suicide-forum in germany, exil-forum.com. I used to be a member there but on SS are just more postings.


Regarding the lifequality in germany, it's said that it's a rich country, but we also pay 40 percent taxes, which is the highest in the world with belgium (including social-security system and healthcare, though). You also pay taxes again when you buy something, about 20 percent (not sure how this compares to other countries).

The prototypical german is very eager to work and has no humor. My first hand report: When you walk through german streets, people just show cold distance to each other.
The people here feel quite stiff.

I never really lived in other countries, with my own place to stay, work and everything, so I can't really compare. But from vacations I took and just out of my gut-feeling, it's true. People also talk a lot about moving abroad here.

I think germans are indeed unhappy folks.


In school, we learn pretty good english. Again, it's hard to compare to other countries, I only know that well spoken english in france is a true rarity. And even if they can speak english, they don't really want to.
