I planned on starting to work on assmblying the second grill at midnight and then staring th charcoal. I fell asleep and it's 3 am, I don't think I have enough time to do this and the next 3 hours and guarantee I'm gone. I'll plan on doing this tomorrow then. What's one more day...
I can't believe I fell asleep. Oh well, I'll assemble the second grill when I get home from work then and I'll have to do around midnight-1 am tonight is get the charcoal lit and moved into the truck. I found a method to light the charcoal that shouldn't invole too much smoke

Just woke up for work. I hope I get this done tonight. I'm really done doing this shit. And by shit I mean life. I may set an alarm tonight to make sure I don't fall asleep again.

Are there any brick and motor stores that sell co detectors? I picked up an alarm but I don't want it going off. Was thinking of opening it and disconnecting the speaker part, but it only goes to 1000ppm. I dont see any hardware stores that sell them
Well I'm thinking if I can't find a co monitor today I'll just disable the speaker in the detector I got and figure if it goes to 999 ppm quickly then it must be working

I have a CO detector 999ppm with a damn loud speaker, i just cut the wires of it and still works. Was going to test the charcoal method, might still test it, to check how long it reaches max and how long until it goes down.

Ok, I disabled the speaker in my Co detector. Held it to my tailpipe in my car and it red 100 after a few seconds. I have 2 small charcoal grills ready to go. I have tape to tape up all the seams in the back of the truck. I am going to light them around 1 am in the back yard with a soaked paper towel in olive oil. Once the flames are down I plan on using ove gloves to move them to the truck. I hope this works. I am really done living.

I slept through my 12:30 alarm but luckily woke up at 1:15. I'm trying to light both grills in the back yard now. Have the lids closed but vents open to keep light down
Ok, no more flame. Coals are red and smoking. Waiting for smoke to go down to move
The coals are still burning much. Still waiting for smoke to go down. If I chicken out of this I may get a nice charcoal grill for next memorial day. This wasn't bad at all to get going
Still smoking a lot. I have them moved to the back of the truck but the window is open until the smoke simmers. Co monitor already reading 250ppm even with the door open.
Wish this smoke would quit. I'm ready to close the door already
One of them quit smoking, anxious for the other to quit soon. I'm ready to close the door and tape up seams. Already taped around the tail gate. Still at 250 ppm with window open. Hope it climbs quick when I close it.
Co detector is flashing a red light for an alarm. Smoke is going down. I bet in 5 minutes I close the window and tape seams
I don't understand life

I closed the window for a minute but the smoke was still too much. Co alarm jumped to 333. I think this is going to work. Just need this gd smoke to quit
Hopefully in 5 more minutes, it's almost 3 am..
I closed the window and taped up the seams the best I could. Co detector says 999, jumped quick. I guess this is working. I don't feel like backing out. I hate life. I hate the stress of life. Life makes not sense to me
My stomach is starting to hurt. I guess that's a sign it's working.
Alarm still says 999. Still conscious, hmm. I. Ready to go already
Still at 999, I feel like I'm getting weaker.
Wish I had a co monitor that went higher

The way the co monitor pegged to 999 so quickly, I'm not sure how I'm still awake. I. Going to try to go to sleep. If I wake up ok then I guess god intended for me to live.
Def feeling nauseous
Monitor is still at 999, still fell nauseous and dizzy

Are you sure?

I thought that every generator shuts down equally when there is not enough air around.

There is news article in CO megathread. Man left generator on in car and it had shutted down from lack of air when there was 3/4 of the gasoline left.

The new generators shut off, and will not provide enough CO. That is what they are designed for...saving lives. an old generator however, would be perfect.

Sucks that they implemented safety features into generators. Looks like I'll have to use charcoal if I decide to go with this method.

At least in Europe there is no safety features in them. It gets above 12000ppm really fast and then it starts to slow down from lack of oxygen.
By the way at least in models sold in Europe there is some kind of clutch (covered in black plastic at least in mine) in front of the generator which has to be put in right position (from left to right) before starting it or otherwise some small part can get burned inside the generator (circuit breaker??) and
it could shut down or don't start again.
In case someone would buy used generator. Otherwise the way it work is : put power button on, clutch to right and start it (and have right oil to the mark and gasoline of course).

Someone else can explain it with professional language. ;)

Would a generator of 2kWh run by gasoline provide CO as well?
I just found a really old one on a used stuff website which i could buy

I bought this one https://www.lowes.com/pd/Mr-Bar-B-Q...ain-Coated-Portable-Charcoal-Grill/1000714194
And
I think this one

I still have the generator in the truck. Don't know that I have goggles nor do I have time to stop for them. I wonder if I can combine both methods..

By the way people should use the purer gasoline for gens that is sold in canisters for them and lawnmowers etc. and not gasoline for cars. Gasoline for cars is cheaper and works but it makes more smoke and smell.

What if you combined generator and charcoal method together?

either or both of them can ran out from the oxygen and halt coals are less likely to especially when they placed at distance from a generator. as oxygen needed for the CO generation reaction to take place though i think that the generator will shutdown first when a safety system detects that oxygen supply is insufficient.

But if you get a generator without a CO cut off, would it not be more efficient?
