It really wasn't that hard, it's just like playing a big game of Tetris.

How often do the council even check on it? I'd wager not very often. I say go for it, you're adding value to the land so if anything they should pay YOU for doing it! :))
I've tried to do things right by the council. I tell them when the drains are blocked or when someone pinched the gate to the field, or when the delinquent sheep are back, but they just tend to ignore me.
When I moved in here, they even actually created a family member out of thin air so that they could charge me more council tax. They added my surname to the conveyancer's first name, and hey presto, extra cash!
I tried to negotiate that I'd take care of the back field for free with their permission, but hey, I think I'll just do it myself then deny all knowledge if anyone complains.
The irony is, when they illegally bulldozed and set fire to occupied allotments several years ago, they also buried all the waste asbestos in a huge pit. And I know someone who took pictures.

So I think maybe the first thing to do is collect more stones to make a little copy of you herb spiral :smiling:

Annoyingly, there is now a new rooster in the back field, which could cause a problem with my sleep come the spring. I shall probably post a thread to ask advice on how to deal with my 'troublesome cock.' :O:blarg:

I managed to find some arum italicum growing locally. I've transplanted a bit to the garage plot. I also picked up a bag of baby's tears which I've divided and planted in all the shady crannies on the garage bank. Next year it should take over and provide a lush green mat of tiny leaves. It should go well with the ivy leaved toadflax which grows rampantly in similar conditions.

Extremely rare peppers from China. I'll be growing them soon if anyone knows what this is and is outside of the US, I could send seeds.

I never had a garden but on the other building where I lived I had a decent terrace. There I planted radishes, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, basil, rosemary...etc. I had a "maria indoor" when I was younger and the truth is that they turned out very beautiful (that if, it requires a lot of work).

I really like gardening but in the flat where I am now I don't have much room for my plants. Also, I like taking cuttings from the plant and growing new ones from there (especially cactus).

I have combined my love of gardening with my new interest in insects and last month I did a vivarium.

I used to garden alot when I was younger and I found it to be somewhat healing and therapeutic. I'm finally living at a place where I can garden again and I'm rather excited about it!

Does anyone here enjoy gardening in their free time? What do you like to grow? Do you have any tips or tricks that you've discovered?

Brilliant!

So do I. Sunlight, exercise, nurturing. There are no answers, but it helps to be aligned with the reality of the situation, however one sees it.
