Venting Funniest Reasons my Abusive Dad Became Violent

This is all really traumatic stuff but I have a dark sense of humor about it because the reasons are so fucking ridiculous, and I figured it would probably be better received here since it would make a lot of people on other websites (understandably) uncomfortable. All of these instances occurred when I was a teenager.

• I disagreed with him about Star Wars, told him I thought Darth Maul coming back in The Clone Wars was cool and entertaining (he took his tools out and removed my bedroom door as punishment)
• I corrected him when he referred to the fictional superhero Captain Marvel as "Miss Marvel", and explained that Miss Marvel is a different character. He screamed at me in public, and when we got in the car he sped as fast as he could to the point of terrifying everyone and nearly getting us killed.
• I told him I still didn't know what career I wanted to pursue and tried to open up about feeling hopeless about it while we were in the car. He got very angry and proceeded to speed, then slam the breaks, speed again, slam the breaks again very quickly again, over and over, to violently jerk me around.
• I told him the minimum wage was not livable (he agreed with me) and that it should be raised so that people can afford rent and groceries (he took issue with this part)- so he pulled out his gun and threatened me with it, and shot it into the air.

I think we need to get his license suspended first.

My dad was also like this. Overblown reactions to very petty things. I'm sure there were **** loads of underlying psychological issues and disorders behind all of that.

What's pretty crazy is that he actually has a very good reputation and is well-liked by other people. He's a mechanic in a rural small town, knows everyone, never lies like some mechanics do about what fixes their car actually needs, regularly helps people off the clock. Also a single father of two children (my mother is a deadbeat), one of whom is autistic and was in special ed classes (that's me). Teachers would gush to me about what an amazing man my father is.
