I bought the first rope option in the 'ligature type' part of the wiki - the soft cotton one. It's 8mm but is this fine for full suspension? Having tested it (by just trying really hard to snap it lol) it seems strong. Is this rope appropriate for full suspension? I was maybe thinking of double layering it so it's stronger, then using a simple noose as also recommend in the wiki. Does all this sound fine?

Any help or comment is appreciated x

Partial would be better. And 8mm sounds to thin and might give you marks. Better would be to try something soft and thicker. I have about 10 mm rope which is smooth. I will go for partial if I have to. If you can consider inert gas it is much quicker and faster method, according to pph. but cannot say for sure.
Why am I not sure?

Not sure about cotton. When buying rope, make sure to look at the breaking strain to determine if it will bear your weight adequately. 8mm should be okay, but use some padding to make it more comfortable. I would use a slip knot for the actual noose and a snuggle hitch knot to secure the rope to your anchor point.
