For People trying to Uses Partners or just trying to reach out

I have noticed many don't read or don't understand the rules for the partners megathread and therefore can't reach out.

How can I create a thread, send a PM to a user, or join the chat?
The permissions to create a thread, send and receive PMs, and to use the chatroom will be granted automatically after you post a certain secret number of times and are active for at least 24 hours. This is to avoid spam and abuse of accounts. Please see Rules & Info for further information."

I often find someone I want to talk to but can't because they don't have enough posts so that you can chat or converse with them. Please be aware of this. I have someone on there now I'd love to chat with but they are someone who just reads and searches so they have no posts so we can't talk and yet they want to reach out. I thought I'd explain to new comers and those of us who maybe have illnesses or are older how this process works. Read the info on how to make it so you can receive chats and conversations or asks the mods to clarify for you. I am not well enough to do it myself. I hope I didn't say anything inappropriate i just want to help. This site can be confusing. Good luck to those of us trying to find our way.

No u don't wait u interact and that's how u earn the right to talk. If you mean wait for someone else who doesn't have enough post yes then u have to wait.

Yes, I'm interacting, but still need to wait the 24 hrs and hit the magic number of posts.

Try going on the discussion forms they are the chat bubbles on the right hand side. That gets you up there I think.

What is the difference between start a conversation and chat? When I want to speak privately or DM is it private to start conversation? Then why have chat?

I hate the way they name things. It's so confusing. There's chat when u privately reach out to a particular person but then there's like a section over in the corner where u can go on and people are carrying on public conversations and they call those chats also. It's so confusing. I'll take a screen shot of the public chat

See the bubbles with the 16 beside them. Click on those on your page and it opens a place where u can chat it reminds me of twitter. Just remember people

I have wondered too. I don't get it why have conversation and chat. I think u can include other people in chat. I'd ask a mod.
Nothing on here makes since to me.

I don't mind taking some time and interacting. I also want to avoid any scammers. Is that a problem here? Hints for avoiding them would be welcome.

Wish I saw this earlier I was just trying to figure why my PM wasn't working but it makes sense I haven't posted much yet, thanks for the insight

I know very little except most people are selfish. They want help but don't want to help u. They send these emojis which do what? Wow you sent me a hug or a heart or whatever. Thanks. Sorry to be glib I'm just sick of it all.

Wish I could offer more help. Just keep interacting. It's not like you're missing anything. No one ever actually follows through in the partners section. They just want to talk about SN or find SN or ask what ways u can tell them that will work.

Nothing wrong with getting to know people. Just understand they promise they want to help they may even make plans but they never follow through. Read what is written under the partners thread about the dangers of talking to people and u can find other articles. Basically it's hopeless.

Appreciate the heads-up. I really don't know my way around the site or what kind of posts are allowed/not allowed (yes I have read the rules). My name indicates my preferred method. I hoped it would keep the SN people away and so far it has.

I will look for the stuff you mention on the partners thread and appreciate you suggesting it.
