Big cities are parasites that drain the humanity out of people, a relic of the past. Parks are to people what tiny aquariums are to fish. Cramped little apartments are like horse corrals. Sometimes I can't tell the difference between a person walking a dog and the dog itself. I'm not saying big cities lack humanity outright. But the parasite actively tries to dissolve the person. His personality rots, reducing him to dry mathematics. You have to be in a constant fight not to be consumed by it.

Or maybe I just can't see the beauty in it. We haven't reached the final stage of this parasite metamorphose yet, and I can't really see where this chaos is heading. Maybe the irreversible result, something like the megapolises in Blade Runner, will freeze me in awe at its beauty and cruelty. Time will tell.

I wholeheartedly agree, I very much dislike modern big cities. I just think that they're absurd in the way they function and tend to bring out the worst in people. I just can't imagine humans are supposed to live like this

I like big cities cause they have all the shops and events and exhibits that I wouldn't be able to get out in the countryside due to being too niche. Either you're a city person or a country person, either are good answers.

Whenever I'm in a city it doesn't even feel real to me. It's like everyone, including me, is running a script like a video game NPC. Endless swarms of vehicles drive day in and day out, with most of the drivers so apathetic and dissociated that I don't even think they're driving. They're in their own world. Concrete as far as the eye can see with little bits of greenery or trees that seem like they were placed there as an afterthought. The homeless dot many corners and camps pop up as quickly as the city takes them down. People look at you with suspicion as you pass; or are they making calculations as to whether you're worth targeting? The lack of trust I see from urbanites is the most telling.

So many people crammed in such a small space. Living in small boxes. So many soulless gazes. It has becomes evident that decadence has taken root. I wonder what it will grow into?

I live near a big city and I absolutely love it. There is far more exposure to culture and activity than I would ever have living in the suburbs or in a rural area. I do think that cities are planned poorly, however, and definitely have contributed to the lifestyle mentality that we do not need to care for the earth. I have seen recent improvements in my city, at least however, with concentrations on better walkability and increasing green spaces.

I would hate to actually live there, but damn if it is not a very nice place to visit.

I like and dislike my big city. Diverse with culture and people. Good food in a lot of places (but also food deserts). Public transportation decent and gets you all over and to some suburbs. It's walkable. There's a forest and a beach to go to.

It's also bad though because there is crime, my brother 18 and he's been robbed twice already. It's segregated and people can be racist. Gangs also are every where and drug addicts in the streets (not in the good areas).

I don't know if I would ever want to move from here. Maybe when I want to settle down more and just be at home more with my partner and cat. This city is nice and convent to live in and I don't think it is as bad as many other big cities. I am probably giving away too much information with this all but it is also a big tourist spot (those are the parasites) but they like it here.
