A twist on the theme. Today I discovered the black cat on the Queen of Wands card of the Rider deck is based off a real cat named Snuffles, or Snuffy. Pamela Colman Smith made the illustrations for the deck while staying at Smallhythe Cottage in Tenterden during the summer of 1909. Snuffy was a cat that lived at the cottage. Smith used pics of Snuffy as reference.
