Have you seen the resources thread? I imagine most of the protocols would be similar to doing it in a tent. There's a few threads from users who have ctb using a tent.
I keep trying to reread it, but unfortunately, I feel like I can't make full sense of it. I imagine I am not the brightest person, and much of this thread's technicality is beyond me. The most I understand is that you need a chimney burner along with charcoal itself. I was reading in the thread that there will be smoke first and you need to let that pass before you can bring it inside. However, I assume that would activate the smoke detectors inside the house. I could thus see lighting it in the garage late at night, but the exact examples in that thread refer to a tent, which sounds pleasant, but the only thing I could think of is either I would have to burn the coals in the garage, wait for the smoke to clear, and then take them inside quickly into a tent to begin the process, or somehow put it in a car without it damaging the car. A tent doesn't sound like the worst, but I've never burnt charcoal before. After the initial smoke, will it still activate smoke detectors or no? I see the thread says to get a 100cm tent, and something about dumping it into a bucket. I feel like I'm getting snippets of an idea, but I can't quite make full sense of everything and what all to do. I know I would actually prefer to have a tent in my room inside, not use the car, take melatonin which is what I understand are the best sleeping pills, and then curl up beside the charcoal and sleep.
but I assume that makes the to do list look something like:
>Figure out what I need to light the charcoals (which so far I have needing a chimney burner, bag of charcoal, fire starter (?) (which could be weber lighter cubes?)
>learn how to light the charcoal, where to do it, how much do I fill the chimney burner with charcoal, how long do I wait? Is there anything else I need to know? find out if it's safe inside a house after burning initially in a garage.
>Figure out what cheap tent to buy as I do not have much money. How do I know if it's air tight or not? How do I know if the charcoal will melt the tent or not?
I also do not live alone so I need to figure out if the monoxide will put others in harm, and what lightning monoxide indoors means. I cannot imagine lighting monoxide outdoors without getting caught somehow, which seems like it's own problem. Is it safe to light it inside a house or not, as I do not seem to find that clarified. I feel like even simple things like this are very complicated and it's messing with a lot of things I've never interacted with before as I do not camp, and I do not cook, but I just assume this is one of the more peaceful and easier ways to go and I imagine most other methods would be just as much if not more work.
