I keep thinking about possible methodologies, and one of the ones I've been considering is electrocution. But I'm not really sure if this idea would work or not...

The idea is: Take a car battery, plug a power inverter into it (converts the 12v into 120v). I would probably plug in some kind of timer, and then either make some kind of vest, or tape the leads on my chest (front to back, or side to side?) to where the electricity would go straight through my heart.

Does anyone know if this would work, or if there are more resources about the efficacy of methods like this?

Thank you

I want to hear more about this from someone, so bumping it.

Isn't it amperage that kills, and not voltage?

Sorry if this sounds flippant, but would you not just drop eg. a toaster in the bath?

I don't think that works anymore. Breakers detect a change in current quickly and trip almost instantaneously. I think it's not like the days when there were fuses. I could be wrong.

You know, they did away with the death penalty by electrocution in the states because it was deemed as being cruel and unusual punishment. I think eyeballs pop, and toenails pop off, and all kind of things like that. Not saying this to dissuade you from your idea, as whatever you do is wholly up to you.

This is also my understanding. The abstraction that I heard when I learned is voltage is how wide the river is and amperage is how much water flows through (at least if I remember it right).

I guess the first thing I would check is what amperage you need to be lethal and what the discharge rate of your car battery is at that amperage. You might need to jumper multiple together. If you're not an electrical engineer I would guess anything you homebrew would have a very high failure rate and a high chance of leaving some evidence of your attempt.

I think it almost certainly wouldn't work. You'd have to ensure that the electrodes maintained suffici good contact during the process. That would be problematic because of localised burning and muscle contractions.

If you want to go by electricity you gotta be prepared for the case you won't pass out or survive.
Electrical burns look really painful and even small currents are unpleasant.
Also you possibly cannot stop the method even if it sucks. People tense up on electricity. Thats why people keep holding life wires.

If you are interested in CTB by electrocution then read about how fast and painless it is to be executed on the electric chair. And there they use about 2-3kV or some more (thousand not hundred) and I guess a bit more current.

50mA can be deadly, the problem: current is most deadly when it goes right through the heart, but this is actually never the case, it's totally unpredictable which way the current takes through your body.

Yes electric power is dangerous and deadly but in most cases it only leads to severe injuries and not CTB!

Thanks for the info, folks. I did a little research and found there is a bridge about 3 hours drive from here, that is 3x higher than the Golden Gate. So this is my next solid idea. I'm not planning to CTB right now, but I just want to have my methods fully researched. I'm in my 40's right now, and the idea of living another 30-40 years sounds dreadful. I just want to be able to have the right to take my own life, on my own terms, when I'm ready.
