Could I have the hood in place before turning on the nitrogen?

It's the filling and.then.pylling down the exit bag that concerns me

I have my tank and regulator already.

Nope, you have to pre-fill first, otherwise the time to loss of consciousness will be massively increased.

With the EEBD hood the process would be:
1. Pre-fill hood (holding it atop the head).
2. Take a deep breath of air.
3. Insert head into the hood.
4. Adjust the inner mask on the face.
5. Exhale fully.
6. Take a deep breath of Nitrogen.

There is no need to hyperventilate and pre-exhale like with the ExitBag because the EEBD hood has an exhalation valve.

I can only get an 18 CF (509 L) Nitrogen cylinder. Would this be sufficient? It looks that that would give me around 33 minutes at 15 LPM.

I'm looking for an EEBD hood too (without the entire set).

I already found multiple stores that sell an EEBD set, but I wonder if there are any stores that sell just the EEBD hood and the hose itself.

Would be nice if buying a hood was possible for a cheaper price without the entire set.

The hood @Vizzy bought? He got his off a Chinese website. Just Google "EEBD hood spare parts".
Or Google "ELSA rescue hood hose" for other hood types.

Will be very interesting to see how it goes. Looks super easy to setup. Bet you could get it all off amazon, including helium or nitrogen.

No, not a hood. Looks like they're going to be using some kind of industrial respiratory mask. Maybe something like the SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) mask setup that @GasMonkey and others on this site used in their setup.:

Helium and nitrogen are cheap and easy to get and would be very hard to restrict.
