Last week, in the thick of my hazy blue funk, a woman in line ahead of me at Walgreens was purchasing a huge bottle of white Zinfandel (ok, not a bottle, actually, a jug), an oversized box of Lucky Charms, and a giant tub of vanilla ice cream.
Probably the most notable thing about this is that is was 9:30 in the morning. On a Tuesday.
I found this scarily relatable.
I stood behind her trying to formulate some acceptable quip or observation, including,
Oh, honey. You didn't need him, anyway;
Once you come out of that diabetic coma, it's gonna be a brand new day;
and
Do you plan on eating and drinking all that alone, while sobbing quietly, or would you like some company?
I didn't say anything, but man alive, I felt like I had a kindred spirit that morning at the drugstore.
