No one or almost no one who shoots themselves in the head with a shotgun - especially in the mouth -- is ever going to be able to tell if it hurts or not -- or whether they feel pain for seconds - minutes or even hours . There is no coming back to explain. They will be deaf and blind fairly instantly but might linger on for minutes or hours or even longer - suffering or not - who can tell ?
I can imagine that the hot gases and the wadding might cause as much damage as the projectile itself - head just explodes from the burning heated gas with nowhere to go - that has to hurt. I just cannot imagine it.
I could not do it -- even if it was just seconds -- and it is likely minutes at least - before hopefully nothing further - but who knows what it is like once a brain starts to shut down - no one wil ever return to tell us - could be just instant nothingness - or could be long and not very nice before that. Who knows ...

- and as Kattt pointed out - it is not that rare for people to fire a second shot - at least with handguns -- less so shotguns or high velocity rifles which do so much more volume damage.

I found it quite harrowing that he was hyperventilating so much prior to doing it, which implies he was afraid. Also looked like the gun he used wasn't that powerful as the bullet failed to exit his skull.

My dad shot himself. gun to roof of mouth, exit thru top of head. Positioned on an incline so no blood escape. All went to his feet. Coroner said no eye brusing so instantly died. He looked like he died of a heart attack. Damn he did his research! Gun type I'm told makes all the difference.

If you have no serious criminal record, you can easily buy a shotgun or pistol(a tad harder), N is extremely likely to reach you for the cheapest of any country or continent(N. America), and the jungle will sell you 10 bottles of SN to your doorstep legally if you want them.

A ton of countries truly have it bad, in that sense.

No. It is one of the most humane ways to kill yourself. Some considerations: you can forget about any intentions of an open-casket funeral. And anyone—especially your family—walking in on the aftermath would be traumatized. Otherwise, a shotgun is the ideal way to euthanize yourself in terms of lethality and effectiveness.

I've been to an open casket funeral, they looked completely normal surprisingly. It was a pistol in mouth suicide

There's a small chance if you shoot yourself, that you could fail.... obviously with a shotgun the chances are insanely small if you do it correctly. From what I gather the best way to shoot yourself is eating the gun and shooting your brain stem. One of the better gun methods that I've heard of is to drink a shot of SN, then shoot yourself... it's just a little extra insurance policy to prevent that small chance that the gun leaves you injured/disfigured.

Are you familiar with guns? I'm not that's one reason a gun is not an option.
