As I have continued to cut myself over the last months I have noticed a tendency to cut deeper as time went on, and thus I have been getting a few more hypertrophic scars, these tend to be extremely visible in comparison with normotrophic ones which at least in my case would banish and be almost imperceptible over the course of a couple of weeks. With this I have noticed something curious, and is that seeing this hypertrophic scars would make the day-to-day urge to cut myself subside, at least a little, I guess I would compare it to the same feeling I get when I see new cuts on my body, but to a lesser extent. Still, this does not completely erase the daily urge, as I still cut myself, and when I'm being overwhelmed it does not help at all as it could even make me feel worse, but I don't know, I just find it kinda interesting. Does this happen to you too? Does seeing your scars makes the urge to cut less strong?

I feel you. I have scars on my right thigh. To look on them is actually relieving. Well I need to be bottomless to reveal the scars :ahhha:

I only hurt myself when I'm really emotional. After I try hard to hide the scars so no one sees them
The scars don't mean anything to me Looking at them doesn't make me feel any better🙃

I have scars on me lower leg. I used to cover them with makeup before leaving the house in a short dress or a mini skirt and considered getting laser treatment. Now I don't really care anymore. I don't like the way they look but they are proof that things can get better eventually. You can't change the way life treats you, but you can change the way how you feel about it. When I look at my scars, I feel empowered, because I know that I'm the one who has to save myself, the scars are a result of how I was able to do it in the past already. (:

I have *one* scary on my right thigh near my knee. It's really really difficult though for me to cut myself unless I am actively going insane.

I haven't cut myself for years, but scars didn't stop me.

Once you get scars it doesn't really matter if you get more. Still need to hide them either way.

it sadly doesn't work like that for me - despite cutting to a point where i require stitches what feels like every time, i still feel like it's not deep enough, and seeing my scars makes me feel like i'm faking not doing well and whatever because there aren't enough of them, they aren't deep enough etc.
and that leads to the urge to cut more so i keep them covered in day-to-day life and just avoid looking at them as it tends to trigger yet another sh session, which i have frequently enough as is...

My scars make me want to cut more. I like scars so it is tempting to add most re to my skin.

Seeing the scars on my right thigh does make the urge go away a bit, but only for a period of time. Getting into self harm was, just as others here told me, one of the worst decisions I could've made, as it is insanely addictive, and the more you do it, the worse it gets.
