My mom had clinical depression but she got lucky and was fine once she got on Prozac. Does mental illness run in your family?

In many ways yes, my parents own trauma from my grandparents illnesses caused them to be emotionally absent for me as a child. One of my cousins CTB while still very young, feels like a cascading effect.

Made me weak, helpless, but strong in many ways

Very much so. Neurodivergence runs on my dad's side (mostly autism, but also Tourettes and OCD); bipolar runs on my mother's side.

definitely. cluster b disorders and schizophrenia on my mother's side; i never met my father's side (with the exception of 2 people) so i can't say for his.

mother definitely had something going on but i know she was depressed and on a lot of medication that she didn't need (er doctor's words, not mine). she was a hoarder and spent most of her time bed rotting while she was alive.

i won't blame these disorders as the people in my family never chose to have them, but i'm sure the disorders made a lot of things much worse than they needed to be.

Yup, a very long colorful line :) My grandma was shot dead for entering a no man zone. The soldiers didn't understand she was an ill person.

Yes. Psychosis, schizohprenia, and Bi-polar run rampant in my family. I seem to be the one that's truly falling behind as a result and it sucks. Don't know if it's lack of medication or just because I'm mentally weaker than them.

The only other member of my family to have mental illness is my sister. Our whole family tho probably has autism (me and my sister have diagnosis but others definitely have traits of autism)

Aspergers definitely. My parents refuse to check out a psychologist for themselves but I definitely suspect anger management issues (mother threatens to end her life over small disputes) and I'm in a hoarding disorder household, trying to resist hoarding myself but the appeal and safety is strong.

My dad has depression and, while I do not consider it to be a mental illness, my uncle has autism.

Everyone in my family is neurodivergent, don't know if that counts as mental illness though.

Yeah, my grandfather was undignosed but probably met criteria for asperger's at a minimum. Everybody says I'm a lot like him.

My uncle also had undiagnosed issues and he could be very wild and rowdy. He died in a motorcycle accident in Thailand, his son died from a drug overdose at 16, and his daughter was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It seems likely all of them were bipolar.

My dad has pretty obvious ADHD. If only he had known and treated it my childhood could have been so much better.

It doesn't run in my family. So it's a mystery how I am so bad. Oh i did have an alcoholic grandfather. Maybe that is how he coped if he had depression/anxiety. I don't know he died when I was 6.

my father's side has alcoholism. my mother's side has some... issues. undiagnosed, but probably enough to meet a diagnosis for psychiatric disorders. the dysfunctional family kind. early onset cancer too, but that's more on the physical side

Yes, it runs in my family. My sister committed suicide about 4 years ago (when she was 40). Both my father and my cousin (on my father's side) are depressed, they cannot get out of bed. My aunt has also committed suicide. So yes, it definately runs in my family. And I'm fucked up too.
