Other people will see your body and identify it as you, but it's not. You are gone. So when people talk shit about you after you die and they will, they aren't actually talking about you. You don't exist and are therefore beyond criticism

I hadn't thought about it like this before. I always viewed myself as my body even after death, but my body stops being me at death. It helps separate me from the aftermath of the hatefulness of those who attack the dead in their "grief."

It's weird actually because I've often felt the reverse of this. Not for myself but for other people- like- I hope they realised how much they were loved. It would be nice if they still realise how fondly they are remembered and still loved. That's natural death though. It's more sadness that they can't feel that now and regret that I didn't do enough for them when they were alive.

As for me. I've no idea how people will react. But yeah- I'm probably better off not witnessing it. Some people may well talk shit. Others may be pretty upset and shocked. I suppose in a way though- we're already kind of witnessing it now- we're likely imagining how various people may react. It's maybe not the same intensity as the real thing. Still- it's what's keeping some of us trapped here- we don't want to inflict that on the people we care about. Still- for the bullies and narcissists out there- yeah- it's going to be amazing to be free of all them.

Yes, it's comforting how everything will be forgotten about. To me it will be like I never existed at all as I will be completely unaware of everything and I see that as being the best thing possible. There's nothing more ideal than ceasing to exist and of course it's all we are destined for, existence is just a meaningless and unnecessary distraction from the fact that everything will eventually be lost to death. To me the only comfort lies in the thought of finally being free from everything.
