I am unable to work due to my health and disability. Sometimes I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. But either way I feel like I am surviving rather than living, doing the same chores over and over all so that I can live to do it again tomorro. That's a big part of my decision to ctb

In my opinion, life is mostly just unpleasant and there is no enjoyment to be found anywhere. Human beings are essentially just slaves to the system. The constant pressure and stress from jobs can send many people into despair. It is understandable how you feel, the majority of jobs I could never be able to cope with. I am not suited for this society in any way.

Yes, it does bother me. Workers are treated like shit. Since I'm comfortable with CTBing, I have less to lose, so I might try to do some union stuff before I go. If I get fired/blacklisted, then I'll take my labor and leave. Take your fucking sleeping pods and ping-pong tables! I won't be scammed by life.

Though, I might not make it to that point, if I can't find enough passion in the profession I've chosen in the first place. We'll see.

Yeah, we are slaves to the capitalistic system.

My problem on the other hand would be that without working for 5-8 h a day...my week days would be filled with more time to hate everything. My constant restlessness also makes it sheer impossible to enjoy my free time - so I definitely always need something to do to distract myself - just wish it would be something different than my current job.

No Cash - Run Your Pockets

Bread circulates through the paws of depraved
As the almighty dollar disables its slaves
When the products you bought just won't bio-degrade
An army of plastic will hold down our gate
When fuel costs an arm and supplies cost a leg
Soon quadriplegics will lay by the peg
Paying for air, yes a dollar a breath
But keep your receipt,a tax deductable death

You're caught deaf, blind, and dumb
Consumption's like coke, you're addicted and numb
You know that I'd rather grin with teeth of gold
But we're just products on the food chain
If you're not eaten you'll be sold

Run your fuckin' pockets and pay me (I'm the motherfuckin')
God of you sick zombies so lay me (with the motherfuckin')
Strength of a thousand sweatshops and counting (Run your motherfuckin')
Pockets, give me all you got, start counting.

Six billion sick children
All programmed, no feelings
Poor wages, tricked faces
All races ride slave ships

It does bother me! It bothers me more that there seems to be a sick little trend developing in the last decade or so where you must give yourself, body and soul to your employment.

It's seems to be that people are enthusiastically accepting working beyond their scheduled work hours for no extra pay. I wonder if they have so little self direction or personal interests that they need their job to leech into their personal time. This ain't for me as I've always seen work as my "cobbler's trade" as Einstein put it.

Work is supposed to enable people to have the means to enjoy life. It seems that a bunch of halfwits decided that they should usher in a new paradigm, one more similar to Victorian work houses, just prettier to look at.

Now, if you want to sacrifice some of your personal time to a genuine career, that's great. The problem is, this culture is permeating into dead end jobs where there's little to no opportunity for advancement. Nevertheless, people seem to be sacrificing their lives for a prize that they can never win.

I just don't get it! If I'm going to work, I work what I sign up for, any extra is on my own terms. I will do as I agreed, then I want to go home, see my cat, read, play music. That's what my labor bought me. If I can't do that, then what's the point?

Also, it occurs to me that if after working say 8 hours, for the agreed compensation and I went to my boss saying, "You know what, I'm going to have to ask you to, go ahead and pay me an extra 35% this month. Yeeeeaaah, I spent a bit too much on video games and you are going to have to sorta, play catch up with that..." I would be subject to some ridiculous tirade. But it's no different than expecting people to work 35% extra for nothing!

I remember in high school when we would have career people come in and talk to us, I was one of the only ones who admitted to not knowing what they wanted to do for a job.

I knew even at that age that it was all a load of rubbish, every job sucks, sure some suck more than others, but they all suck to some degree. Why are we spending 40+ hours a week working just to barely survive? It's nonsense.

We had that too. Lol, I spent my high school years wanting a girlfriend, while other people were focusing on their future. I guess most of them are where they wanted to be. I'm not.

Yeah, I was pretty much the same! I guess if I had felt valued as a human being at the time, I wouldn't have craved that sort of connection with another person. My adolescent brain I suppose, thought that having a girlfriend would make me feel valued.

Of course, I also wanted to be a musician, but I wouldn't have dared suggest that as my chosen career as people would have heaped scorn upon that idea. It's a shame because I did almost get a shot at it, that is until my mother destroyed it all for me.

It's terrible what being alone can do to a person. If the fundamental needs are not taken care of, everthing else will eventually suffer. Sorry to hear that your desires went unfulfilled. It sucks when parents are responsible for it when they should be the most supportive. Teachers were fairly supportive at my school, but only for those academic types. All I had at the end was rage, and depression. Lost all my friends because of what it did to me.

I guess there might be a correlation with the will to survive and being a coat hanger grinning go-getter, as far as work is concerned. Deprive someone of the will to survive, you forfeit the expectation that they will want to work.

As OnlyTheWind said, and I related too, I was more focused on having a girlfriend rather than a career. I suppose I felt that if I felt loved and valued that I would have a reason to work. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well, but in a nutshell, if I had felt like someone who deserved to survive then I would have had more enthusiasm to work to support that survival. Instead I put all my eggs in the wrong basket.

You probably won't be surprised to hear that I totally agree. Sadly my musical career, however insignificant it might have been, wasn't the only thing my mother destroyed :-( The teachers at my school were pretty awful in the main, with a couple of notable exceptions.

It kinda feels like the people who should have helped me on my way stood in the way instead. Having aspirations in life, at least in my case, was seen as "self indulgence", a position often justified by pointing out my obvious "intellectual ineptitude".

I wasn't allowed any agency in my life, so I guess it's always been hard to gather any enthusiasm to work to maintain a "life" that I was never really part of.

I work 60-70 hour weeks. The pay is bad and it's really embarrassing. I don't mind working hard but there has to be a better deal. You can be hardworking, frugal and careful, and you may still have to live in poverty. And I had to work hard just for that. It's not fair.

Yeah, and those who would tell you that it is fair are usually the ones in a nice comfy job with generous pay. Yet, they would protest the loudest at how unfair it is, if they found themselves in your shoes!

With a lot of people these days it seems that things are always fair, so long as they always happen to other people.

the idea of slaving work and just working in general for the rest of my life exhausts me and makes me wanna ctb even more.

rather just stay in bed and sleep forever. i hate the idea of working for someone or slaving away at making a living. for what? just to end up being exhausted and depressed years later.

I feel this. Plus I feel there are too many people competing. You look at the world and everything is already made and thought out. You cannot contribute anything or change anything. I live in commie-block and It scares me that I would have to work 9-5 to stay here living on top of one another like termites. Fuck that.

This! One of my earliest memories perceiving injustice is when I was a little kid and made the connection that food and rent cost money, and you need to work to get money. I was like "wtf???? Animals just eat whatever they like and we consider them inferior, yet we literally charge people money to stay alive???"

And that, children, is the story of how I became an anti-capitalist kindergartener.

My sentimonies exactly! "Trickle down economics"? Just a fancy way of justifying the rich and privileged pulling up the ladder behind them. "Just throw the plebs a few 70 inch TVs, that'll convince 'em they never had it so good. Don't let them catch on or they may just beat us over the heads with that ladder!"
