Do you think that many people who die using peaceful methods like N or SN might not have died and could have survived and recovered if those methods had not been available to them? Do they just tip a person over the edge during a temporary crisis when without access to those methods they might otherwise have survived the crisis or sought help?

no i think i would be more and more extreme overtime.

i think if i had N a year back i would been happier with some stupid shit ofcs.
im pretty sure if i had it then i would have put it into a safe and just life as long as i can.

but not having access to it actually make me more anxious and actually make it faster

I don't think so. I think the main hindrance (at least for me) is still overcoming SI and being sure enough I really want to die. And I assume this is similar for many others, too. There are so many people who claim that it would be so nice to have a gun and then it would be so easy to ctb, because it is instant. And although I get the notion (it would be cool to just pull a trigger and it's all over), it doesn't seem like the many US-based folks on SaSu just casually get a gun and ctb. (I know that some may have difficulties getting a gun due to poverty or background checks, but it still leaves many people who in theory have easy access to guns).
Most people who ctb have lived with suicidal ideation for quite a while, often years or decades. Maybe easy access to decent methods would cause more successful suicides instead of people doing stuff that leaves them disabled, like jumping from somewhere not high enough or jumping in front of a car/train.

Maybe. Statistics show that guns are most used because of snap decisions. Who knows maybe many of those people wouldn't have done it if they didn't have access?

Takes a lot more time to jump or hang

Tbf. There is many instances of people get unregistered fire arms from randos. When I was real young my dad bought a rifle off a Crack addict tryna get their fix. That person thought a lil Crack was worth more than the rifle. My dad got it for like less than a hundred. You just never know.

I don't know which country you're in, but at least where I live it is extremely hard to get unregistered firearms. You bascially would need to be involved in organized crime. So for the average person it is not feasible. And posession of illegal firearms is considered a serious crime here, so you may very well go to jail, if you get one and get caught.

i really doubt it, there are a bunch of other semi-painless methods that are much more common, and people tend to get desperate.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I myself am hesitant to put SN in the peaceful category. I believe it's only peaceful in comparison to other poison methods, like cyanide or drinking bleach, whereas N is truly like just going to sleep.

Personally, I view them as very very different to each other.

The U.S i should've specified thats what I meant. But yeah. Personally I lost my brother to suicide by gun and I just wouldn't make my family go through that again. My dad demanded to see him one last time before the people took his body. He even made them leave the blood for himself to clean. I think he felt responsible. That's why I choose to hang myself.

I'm constantly suicidal, and I just got some SN. Me having sn might lead to my death, but if I never got it, I would still be desperate to die and still not get any help from medicine and the therapy available to me. I never recovered.

usually they have the gun is not from contemplating and looking around for hours about suicide methods compared to sn. getting sn isnt on and argue while a gun it is because the person had it beforehand

No, in this existence so dreadful and torturous that just causes all this suffering all for the sake of it with no limit as to how much one can be tortured the peace of non-existence is all I could ever see as positive, to suffer in this existence is an abomination and all that existence ever does is just torture existing beings, I'll just always see existence as the problem no matter what, it's just so terrible how this existence was imposed at all.

I'll always see existence as a mistake, for me ceasing to exist is the positive solution to find peace from all future pain and suffering in this deeply undesirable existence that is just waiting for death anyway, it's just so horrible how a human can suffer for decades longer in this existence just to face the terrible extreme agony of old age. The fact that peaceful death is made inaccessible by humans who want others to suffer for as long as possible is criminal, all that anti-suicide ever does is just cause way more suffering and torture, it truly is so terrible how we exist in this world where the suffering and torture of existing is seen as to force and prolong no matter what.

This seems a very pro life question. Access to N is essentially non existent, SN also difficult and getting worse.

I trust the individual to make rational decisions for themselves. I'd prefer peaceful methods being far more readily available.

That type of speculations are pointless, what happened was the only thing that could happen. Also they aren't regretting their actions, because they no longer exist (and this is the most relevant thing to have in mind concerning this topic).
